My first ever case/box CRHing (2500 cents) -- Three boxes, each with EXACTLY 12 Wheaties!

So at long last, I finally took the plunge and decided to do like a lot of you fellow coin roll hunters are doing...look through a whole case/box of 50 rolls! Naturally I got pennies as well, it's all I can afford at the moment. :(

Well would you believe so far I've only searched TWO rolls and not only have I already found three Wheaties but I found a nice bright red 1956-P (late wife's birth year!)! I don't think I've ever found a Wheatie in that nice condition!

And to think I'm just getting warmed up! Let's see what else is hiding in the remaining 48 rolls! I hope sooner rather than later I can do a case/box of nickels as well!

    Can Indian Head pennies even be found anymore? I can't imagine anyone would be crazy enough to actually spend one... And isn't Cheers filmed before a live studio audience? :blush:

    @Estil... It is rare to find an IHC anymore... but roll hunters have found them occasionally. Cheers, RickO

    Starting with the 40th anniversary of Don Larsen's World Series Perfect Game I would send him a baseball to get a special inscription on.

    I got the 50th anniversary, and then the 60th, which was the last of these decade anniversaries he reached. :/

    So I now went through all the rolls and got all the pennies sorted in bowls by decade. I managed to get 12 Wheaties...does that sound about typical for a case/box of pennies?

    So I just recently went through another box/case (which is the right term?) and wouldn't you know it? I once again got exactly 12 Wheaties! I think roughly about eight rolls worth out of 50 was copper (1959-81). So it looks like I better save all the coppers at face value I can! And I now have another case to go through (and to borrow a card collecting term, be sure you get a FASC (From A Sealed Case) but that means it was machine wrapped meaning no humans have been picking through it).

    What do you guys think? Should I someday try my luck with a case of nickels and see how many Buffalo and War (35% silver) nickels are in there?

    So I finally finished this third box, and would you believe once again I got exactly 12 Wheaties? Wow, what are the odds of opening three boxes/cases and getting exactly the same number of Wheaties (12) in all three boxes?

    So, should I do a box of nickels next? Maybe save up and do a box of quarters (I do have a spare set of empty albums that can hold them)?

    So I finished going through my first nickels box/case and got 13 nickels from the 50s, five from 1939-41...and a 1920 P(?) Buffalo nickel! No war nickels though.

    I'm curious, on these machine wrapped rolls would the machine "kick out" any silver nickels/dimes/quarters?
