The first coin has better eye appeal.
Mr_Spud
WHICH MEANS Mr Spud picked coin 2, as I made an error and adjusted the pic's
Thank you Spud.
Im sorry please review and GTG my mistake TY Michael
Cant tell from the pictures if there's scratches on the coin or the holder so can't accurately GTG, but I think they're both VF-XF, I'd pick the second coin 99 times out of 100 purely on an eye appeal basis.
Those contrasting surfaces are what seals it for me, the first one is just lifeless imo

VF-35 first
Vf-25 second
1st - VF35 very nice
2nd - VF30 or 25 if those scratches are detracting when viewed in hand
30 and 25

Coin number one in the OP looks better, though it is difficult to see the real quality in those pictures. The grade looks to be around 35 - subject to review if better pictures are provided.
Cheers, RickO
Moderate preference for #1.
Grades: 45 and 30
1, not only because it is a higher grade (imo) but because of its surface uniformity
2 would be able to contest #1 if both sides either looked like the obv or the rev but not split in half

Pics are just a bit too dark for me to venture a guess
Eye appeal is #2 for me. I like the wear and not a fan of the bit of black gunk on the first one. The first one has a higher grade tho
I think both are VF coins, #1 looks to have slightly more detail. I don't mind the "circulated cameo" appearance on coin #2 but the reverse looks to have been wiped or cleaned. I prefer coin #1 more detail and the surfaces and color look to be more consistent.

Without question #1 is the higher grade and the better coin... at least from the images provided. I see that one easily at an EF40 and I suspect it has a better look in hand.
The second coin is likely a 30... 35 tops and is still a decent coin but second chair to the first

VF30 or the 1st, VF20 for the 2nd. I like the look of the 2nd.

25
I much prefer the second coin

Look dude ! Everyone knows my pictures s*+# give it a shot 😂
Besides people who buy my coins are so pleased when they receive them 🤣
So... why are you laughing Soldi ? I will offer an explanation as to my thoughts... even if my views are misplaced

to be fair, those images in the OP aren't horrible, imo.
they also could be improved a lot with a little effort. i simply removed shadows around 60% or so. not that you need to or have to obviously. just sayin'
i do think that myself when i use some sub-standard images and then look at the coin in hand, being much better than the images represent. well, the buyer sure will be pleased!

Your views are welcome. I laughed cause my pictures are like I always say "much better in hand"
So, I laughed at myself ! Don't we get points for lol and agrees and the like? Warm regards, Michael
Top coin graded 45 from NGC and lower coin graded 40 with an ACCEPTANCE sticker by JA
Thank you ! I hoped to have fun with two (2) 1893-O circ coins. Regards, Michael
PS the eagles right wing has full separate feathers aka no blending both coins To my mind the technical grades were OKAY, but you guys shined through with the eye appealing coin having the sticker. Thank you.
Fair enough... So my thoughts are summarized below:
The coins are both 1893-o. This date, as others that are the product of the New Orleans mint, can vary widely in terms of quality. While the obverse usually carries the grade, we are starting with the reverse. Look at the reverse of the first coin... look at LanceNewmanOCC images that were enhanced which help illustrate exactly what I am trying to write. The wing detail, the feathers at the neckline and eagle's head look significantly better than coin 2. Look at the fields that have nice surfaces that look original. The obverse could be better but it is consistent with the date and mint. Perhaps 40 now looks more like 45...
Not to be critical of coin 2... but just start with the reverse and the difference - at least in my view- coin 2 is weaker at the high points on the reverse... at the Eagle's head, the wings as well as just having a look that is obviously not at the same grade level. They both were graded by NGC... hopefully at least somewhere between 1 and 3 grades apart. And in the 3 grades apart, I am thinking 45-30.
If they graded the same... well... I suppose it just does emphasize the subjective nature of grading

Your photo's in the op were horrible, actual photo's make the coins appear much nicer, and more in line with ngc assessment
All photos were taken with the same cellular phone aka every one that I posted. The bottom ones are where I used a piece of cardboard to deflect some of the light tonight at 7:27 pm

Agree like the 2nd set of photos better and would have probably bumped my grade up 1 step.
Very nice coins if yours, however for comparison, here is what PCGS graded a VF30. Coin 1 may have a little more meat, and if that is a green bean XF40, confirms what I always thought, PCGS graded this one very conservatively.
@Soldi
I think our last posts crossed as I was not aware of the grades at the time of my commentary. I still would rather have the first coin and in my view it is the better coin in terms of eye appeal and grade
