Pulled from a roll this morning.
Immediately noticed the $ over his hat and then the large die gouge over the D.
Are those curved marks from lazy harsh polishing?

Yes, heavy die polish to remove clash marks. That is a die gouge over the S. Pretty cool $ sign, reminiscent of the 1944-S Jefferson Silver War Nickel. I’ve never seen a bicentennial quarter like this.
