Latest CAC submission - No CAC / Pass / Exceed - (((Results posted)))

edited August 27, 2022 8:48AM in U.S. Coin Forum

I received a phone call from CAC about my submission. I managed to leave blank the return shipping method, which should mean that they are on their way back after three-four weeks. I would like your opinion on the results of these coins in comparison to JA, no prizes, just for amusement.

Thank you for your interest and comments!

I dont know if a "dipped" coin would receive a straight grade from our host, but AT (code 91 Questionable Color?) would not, and would be identified as such. These coins received straight grades, it would be a waste of time if they did not.

    Thank you for your comment.

So far at least one commentator is correct.

CAC on the half dime. No clue on copper. No CAC (muted luster) on Barber dime. CAC on the Merc.

    Thank you for your comment.

My wording of dipped and AT was extreme, I was trying to think how CAC would view these coins. I would suspect when my coins come back without green stickers it would be for those reasons. And I bat less than .500. Your coins ALL look nice; but, CAC has higher standards than third party graders.

Given that I've looked at a lot of coins with a first class dealer mentor who said not to buy many coins in his inventory, my feeling is that a CAC green sticker is actually for an "A" coin and "B" coins do not get stickers. Maybe over time CAC may create a third color sticker for "B" coins.

I'm going to throw out these numbers for everyone's consideration. There are 1117 Hawaiians in PCGS MS64 plus 27 that are "+." Of those 135 or 12% have received a CAC. Hawaiians are a great candidate for CACs and yes, all of them have not been submitted. But right now 88% of them do not have a sticker. Given the previous popularity of commemoratives, it's likely many of those coins were dipped in earlier times, some more so than others.

I'm looking forward to seeing your actual results, there was no intention on my part to put down your coins.

Sidebar - The 1849/6 H10C 9 Over Widely Placed 6 and the 1892 10C RPD FS-301are unatributed at this time. The 1892 will be the Top Pop with 2 others in lower grades (50 & 55).

The 1864 2C LM RPD FS-1303, RB is tied for Top Pop with three others.

I like the 2 Cent piece and see that as a green with a 35% shot at gold. The Barber is a no. I am a no on the others without seeing them first

All very nice coins. I'm not familiar with grading on the first three but the Merc is a sure CAC in my opinion.

I really thought that the Mercury Dime had a shot, I don't know of anyone who sends in questionable coins.

The coins have not made it back yet, just the invoice. I will be sending in the H10C and Barber Dime in for Variety Attribution, as mentioned earlier, along with a few others, which should return by years end.

The Two Cent piece and some others are going to Grapevine for some hopefull 25th wedding anniversary cruise money.

    Thanks for playing along!

In my opinion the barber is too dipped out and the Merc is QC and that's why I said no CAC. Just for what it is worth.

Love the 2c tho and the H10C is a nice lightly circ example.
