I went to my local TD Bank branch to complete a teller assisted transaction when I spotted a silvery edge of a 25c piece in the teller tray. I asked for the quarter and indeed it was a 1964 silver quarter. Cool!

I believe they meant did you trade a clad quarter for the silver quarter, essentially buying it for $.25

Other than finding that 1900 Barber quarter a couple months back, I've had none, ZERO luck finding any silver dimes/quarters in rolls... :(

They were asking what the teller received in exchange?

Nice catch.... I always look for silver in tellers trays - when visible. Have not seen any in years. Cheers, RickO

My first reaction was that it had to be a Canadian quarter. First silver quarter found in 20 years.

I have to admit that was more exciting than buying the OGH PCGS (later stickered by CAC ) MS-63 1932-D quarter 15 years ago.

    Did you trade it out?

Actually, I looked for a clad quarter in my pocket but had no change on me. I had to pull a $1 bill to then ask for 3 more quarters. The teller who was un his 20’s had no idea as to the difference between the silver and clad quarters.

Interesting… I actually hate carrying change with me anymore. I only carry quarters on occasion so I can get a shopping cart when I go to Aldis supermarket.

I’ve told the story here before but I did quarter redemption at an amusement park/arcade in Rehoboth beach back in the mid 90s and went through what must’ve been 1,000,000 quarters always looking as the coin guy. Never 1 on the output and only one in 1996 on the intake. I always assumed there was someone else looking above me in the chain but never found him/her

There were so many places that took quarters and they were a must for parking there, they were a major currency there and I doubt that it was my original idea.
