Everyone in this thread will be dead in 100 years. How is that for a prediction.

The experts are stating obvious perils of life on earth and putting fear into everyone.

The vast majority of us will die of heart failure or cancer, guaranteed. Boom. Live in fear.

    Fear sells.

I think you are missing the point about global warming, you should fear it, it is here, we see it all over the place and it is affecting our lives, the economy, and the global ecology. If fear sold, why are we doing so little to combat it?

I think also you miss the point about 'experts' putting fear into everyone. For example, scientists who study emerging viruses predicted at the start of the pandemic that we would get 200,000 deaths from Covid in the US. We were all shocked there would be so many and how serious this was going to be. Guess what, we are over a million deaths now from Covid in the US, so is that putting fear into everyone? Just one example where science tries to inform the public of a danger and is more conservative than what really happens. Further science is not absolute in our understanding the natural world, those of us who are scientists get that. Too often the public does not and misinterprets what we tell the public. The natural world is very complex, we know very little, but try to help inform the public where we can, but we don't deal in absolutes.

It is not clear whether everyone in this thread will be dead in 100 years btw. Advances are moving forward on understanding longevity. It is likely you are correct, but no guarantee.

Latest concern in article below, if you live near the ocean coast, good luck as in the next few years, that coast line is going to move inland....... Global warming is causing this great ice melt which has been a concern for decades and now it is here.

Then I guess we will see this really easy with the statue of liberty. Time will tell. Article says in next couple years it will happen. They've been wrong already(see statue of liberty). Will see if they continue to be.

Article also says that ice sheet has been eroding for the last 200 years...so I guess Thomas Jefferson was proposing going all Electric vehicles to prevent it from happening???

Doh! It is bc we are in an interglacial period in combination with the onset of the industrial age (late 18th century) so sure the glaciers have been melting for 200 years as the T has indeed started to very gradually increase at that time given the natural and human induced factors. But what is important is that now they are melting much quicker bc so much man made CO2 and cow methane in our atmosphere. Just throwing out observations w/o interpretation is why folks don't seem to understand the coming climate apocalypse. Look at the T vs. time graph in my previous post.

Imagine admonishing humans and their use of fossil fuels for the cause of climate change...all while being the proud owner of a '67 Corvette through that whole time the chart is in red.

More people would listen if more people lived by example who are trying to spread that message.

I've been wabtung do do a thread about how vulnerable planet Earth really is to the forces of nature, for instance, do you realize that underneath Yellowstone is a supervolcano and if ever decides to unleash it's fury, we're in big trouble.

    Very true.

Same with water. That’s how the earth flooded during Noah’s time along with the rain.

One day our earth will burn with intense heat and a new earth will be made.

    Learned that in church.

Was much worse across the county in the 1930's. Nothing new.

Obviously this is not true in terms of climate change that affects us now - there was not a significant amount of man made global warming yet, only natural climate variation. Now the whole world is having climate problems induced by what we have done to it - watch the news, CNN documents this daily.

If we believe every thing that CNN says we are in big trouble. All these super rich people buying up water front property and telling us about climate change. They want us to walk while they fly in their jets. It is China that pollutes and Biden and others do nothing to China, yet they want us to to suffer and pay the price. I'm sure I could go on and on and on but I won't because I hate politics and I hate to be cheated and lied to especially by people that are filthy rich trying to screw the less fortunate.

The United States government keeping you scared for the last 80 years. It’s called the State of Fear and they are very good at it.

The 1969 earth day was filled with many flat out wrong future predictions by scientists and 'leaders'.

The name changed from Global Warming to Climate change. That way if there are extreme cold spells they are covered. High heat? Covered. Blizzard? Covered? Melting ice? Covered. Drought? Covered. Flooding? Covered.

It's great to come up with a term or theory that can cover every single event whether it is conflicting or not.

King of reminds me of those 1-800 gambling numbers back in the day when people would call in for the "steamer" pick guaranteed to win. The 1-800 number would give half the callers one team and the other half the opposing team, that way half the people win and boom, several hooked clients. Then since there is no records to look back on(kind of like recorded climate and events that only go back 100 years), half the people are convinced in the 'service'. They won. They don't see the discrepancy or 'losses'. That can go on for quite a while before people start to question it...kind of like the Statue of Liberty photo with the water level above.

How about that giant solar flare that missed Earth in 2012 by nine days? Imagine if it had hit Earth and...even if no one got hurt/killed directly, imagine if all the electronic stuff (orbiting satellites and Hubble would have NO chance) got f-ed up? Sometimes I wonder what would happen if even just Internet service went down country or worldwide for more than a week or so.
