Possibly an old cleaning and I noticed the hit to the mouth of Liberty too, but any Copper Nickel IHC for $1 with readable dates and legends is a score in my book! Congrats!

Hi everyone. I am new to this but I see someone referred to this as a CN. Also possibly an F12. Can I ask what CN and F12 mean.
Thanks,
Bob
Copper Nickel... CN... refers to the metallic composition of the coin from 1859 to 1864. From 1864 to 1909 IHCs were minted in Bronze.
F12 is the grade (Fine 12). The scale goes from 01 (Poor) to 70 or Mint State).
All of this information can be had in a copy of The Redbook...

Looks okay to me, except for those dang red and white candy-stripe lines on the reverse!
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
I'm more concerned about the GSW to the mouth.

Was told on another coin website that it was cleaned. He never responded back. THANKS FOR RESPONSE!

What Not to LOVE for a buck?
❤️ It!
Go back and get the rest of the roll!
Nice pickup
Nice pickup for a dollar! CN cents can be lighter in color; I'd say it is ok and just has some darker toning around the edges.
Potential to fill a hole in my folder for a buck?! I wouldn't care if it was cleaned or not!
