I pulled these ladies from the same roll. I would also say they came from the same anvil die. The issue are these lines. Die gouge? Die crack? Clash?.........I don't know.

The coins also have this die abrasion or marker in the same exact spot on all 4.

The spot near the wing looks like die deterioration or a strike thru, IMO

Die gouges for sure, maybe trail dies but I don't know much about those - check it out here - http://www.traildies.com/dollar-trail-dies/. The other problem in the field by the wing , no matter how it was made, is just going to be a very distracting anomaly- not worth collecting.

The lines in the motto are die gouges? Can you elaborate?

Thanks for that link Steven. As good an explanation as any.

Basically larger, heavier die polish marks that didn't get removed, but could also be from die damage (not in your case). There is no real definition characterizing the difference between die polish and die gouges. You know it when you see it

    Okay, thanks for that.

I agree with the 'die gouge' evaluation. The other mark is either a strike through or die damage. Cheers, RickO
