Just saw this pop up on ebay... not my coin, not my pics, but wow! These dies are pretty far gone for a modern quarter! Retained obv cud at 12, big die crack from 5:30-Chin, and reverse has a massive, almost bisecting die crack.

If more like this coin are around and word spreads a bit, it could rekindle some interest in this thing of ours. 😊

What a cool find... and for a YN, super cool. Will make a dedicated coin searcher out of him for sure. Cheers, RickO

Good for him selling a bunch of these now. No telling if someone searching a box will come up with a few hundred and tank the value. I wonder if the Mint is going to flatten the relief of the portrait to mitigate the drooling die crack that these seem to have more often than not.

Philly coins eventually get into the midwest, but this is a cool find!

    Great find! 👍🏻 👍🏻

Yet another quality control issue at Philly. It just doesn't seem to happen as much at Denver. Why is that?

That portrait of Washington has a lot higher relief than the old one.
So I expect that they have had to dial up the striking pressure on them.

As a result, I expect to see some more of this type of thing in the series (but probably not as severe).

You're correct. Reliefwise, Charles Barber would have had "issues" with the Laura Fraser obverse right along with all his other "hated" coins.

I have since come to understand why he felt that way.

The mint will artificially create a demand for them by lowering the quality standards. Errors are the only way when you are minting billions of them.

Ooh, she's sitting with you but her eyes are on the door
So many have paid to see

    Money's the matter
If you're in it for love
You ain't gonna get too far
Watch out boy she'll chew you up
    (Oh here she comes)
    She's a maneater
    (Oh here she comes)
Watch out boy she'll chew you up
    (Oh here she comes)
    She's a mankiller!
