My first 20 cent piece :)

WilliamFWilliamF Posts: 831 ✭✭✭✭✭

A newp for me purchased from LordM :)
My first of the type, going into my 7070.
I couldn't be happier with it!
Give me your opinions please (and maybe an estimated grade?) and post your own 20c pieces if you like :)

    Congrats! Love the odd denominations. I have a very worn out one, on the lookout for a mint state version.

    LOVE the double-dime!

    @WilliamF ... Very nice coin... Shows commerce, and I am sure those coins were well used during that period. Cheers, RickO

    @WilliamF , a great pickup for your Dansco 7070 - a real nice, problem-free coin.

    Just throwing out an idea for others: A collector can choose to go beyond having just one as a Type coin, as there are only four coins in total to complete a Twenty Cent business strike set (no proofs). When I was looking for something new to collect, in general I try to stay away from series that require a large number of coins. This fit the bill, as only four coins are required. There are currently 63 collectors participating in this Registry set.

    Cool coins, nice example. I've contemplated putting together a matching set of the 4 achievable ones but never got around to it.

    Actually there are five coins in the true business strike set.
    The four coin version is the Registry set that excludes the 1876-CC.
    I imagine the four coin version is a concession to people who like to reach 100% completion,
    and prefer not to compete with people who can afford the 1876-CC.
    There are still around 20 people who participate in the five coin Registry set.
    I'm sure you already knew this, but it looked awkward to possibly suggest that excluding the proofs yielded four coins.
    Probably you didn't intend exactly that.

    Yes, you are correct. However, since there are only about 20 known coins in this 1876-CC date in all grades combined, with the lowest known PCGS grade being AU58 with a PCGS Price Guide value of $235,000 in that lowest grade, I figured I would mention the four coin set to hopefully encourage some collectors to participate in this series. But you are correct, as I should have said only four coins are needed to complete that four coin Twenty Cent Registry set.
