Stacking Peace Dollars

I've always heard that the "High Relief" of the 1921 Peace Dollar was discontinued due to banker complaints that they wouldn't stack. Has anybody tested that? How high of a stack can you go before they fall over? I don't have enough of them to make a pile, that's for sure, but did tellers really make stacks of silver dollars back in the day? I'm thinking maybe a stack of ten would be useful but anymore wouldn't make sense to me. I can almost hear it now, " Hey Grace, my stack of 17 silver dollars just tipped over again, these Peace Dollars are just awful."

I don't even own any peace dollars yet. That will probably be my next infatuation after Morgan's 😅

But to your point I can't imagine anyone trying to stack many coins more than 5 or 10 high.

Yes. It's the Saints that don't stack. 21s stack fine.

I stack Peace Dollars in a Dansco, they haven't tipped over yet.

I only have 3 raw Peace dollars I played with so it would be a while till I experiment it 🤔

IMHO the center field must be ….. ever so slightly higher than the rim for them to be un-stackable.

Never tried stacking Peace dollars beyond ten.... only have a couple dozen anyway.... I do not think it would be much of an issue. Cheers, RickO

Here are some in a Capitol holder. If not propped up properly they will fall over.
