Couple New Purchases from Stacks, now that they've been to CAC...

This '76-S Half is only the 15th business strike with motto seated half to receive a gold sticker. First '76-S too.
In similarly fun cherrypicked stats, this is the 21st PL Morgan to receive a gold sticker. Funnily enough, it's the 7th PL '81-S to get one though.

The half dollar looks like an OK 58, so I’m surprised it got a gold sticker. How do you grade it?

CAC-able 58. Muted luster, but minimal rub and lovely originality. Would dip out pretty well I think, if you wanted it to look like most AU58 Seated 50c's.

Thanks.

Nice coins and gold beans.... Gold stickers always bring better premiums. Cheers, RickO
I'm shocked that a major auction company does not automatically send most of their coins to cac. I agree the AU55 gold is surprising.
There are countless graded coins that don’t merit the cost of CAC, or for that matter, the cost of grading.

I think they got a massive group in and cherrypicked some obvious gold CAC coins but these flew under the radar a bit. I did pay well up on the 76-S, into 58 money, but saw it in hand in lot viewing and knew it was all there, so I was fine with it given the overall difficulty of finding seated halves in Fatty holders.
I think also sometimes Schrödinger's CAC comes into play. Why CAC it and risk a green bean if people will pay close to gold bean money if it's still up in the air?
I made a second gold CAC Morgan from this group too but I haven't posted that one as I'll be selling it.

Unless I am wrong- go ahead. With your caveat, no one should be offended. I'd like to see it.

It sounds like he was avoiding spamming the coin and I think he deserves credit for that. If he’d posted a picture, without disclosing that the coin was for sale, that might have worked.

I know you're right.
I'd still like to see it, though.
I think stating it is being offered for sale (yet not stating where) is honest enough.

I actually don't have good pics of it to share yet anyway, as I wasn't intending to post it here. It's just an untoned 85-S in a rattler graded 63, nothing special... excepting that it's the only gold CAC 85-S. Looks 64 all day, but obviously should sell for a bit more than 64 money. I'll DM you the cell phone pics I took of it.

I am always impressed by gold CAC coins.
Full disclosure: I am easily impressed though. . . you all have seen what I collect...

I get it. The difficulty is, that various coins which many posters would like to see, amounts to spam, which offends some others.

Congrats on the gold beans! Very good eyes
Very nice coins! How do the prices you have to pay pre-CAC compare to the prices you could sell for after CAC on material like this where a gold CAC is likely?

Great eye as usual, Delaware! And as @MFeld stated, appreciate your attention to forum etiquette.

For gold beans? The difference is... catastrophic to my ability to acquire them. I'd guess the 63PL sells for solid 66PL money if I auction it, and I'd guess the half dollar sells for $700 or so. General rule of hand is 2 grades up on gold beans. So a 5 should sell for 7 money or thereabouts.
