Two Headed Kennedy With Off The Charts Eye Appeal

ctf_error_coinsctf_error_coins Posts: 15,433 ✭✭✭✭✭

I had to share one of most amazing error coins that I have brokered this year. I almost never post photos of a coin that I sold but I asked permission from the new owner to share this amazing coin with you. This coin has insane eye appeal and a super high grade for a Kennedy error coin. I received this into inventory a few days ago and it sold today. Fantastic coins don't last long.

Here is the coin and post your two headed coins to this thread. Have a great weekend you all.

    nice!

have you or anyone else here done the edge view to see the reeds on a d/s like this?

there are a few vams that have some interesting reeding patterns.

I never looked at the reeding as I can't stop looking at the obverse <3

Now that is a cool error! How come the date was not on the coin?

  • ctf_error_coinsctf_error_coins Posts: 15,433 ✭✭✭✭✭

When the coin was first struck, the metal moved to fill in Kennedys bust leaning the metal 'thinner in the dated area. The second strike obliviated the first date and the second date did not got struck on the thinner part of the struck coin is my guess.

Love how strong the second strike is, and the placement is perfect.
    Congrats to the new owner

Looks like a "D" mint mark and I think I can see an overstruck 8 in the field.

So, could be a 198?-D coin so far?

Awesome! One strike is also slightly off center right?

Interesting double struck error.... I can see a D mintmark, but that is all as far as further identification. Cheers, RickO

does it make much difference value-wise that it is an o/c d/s compared to an in-collar d/s?

The coin is what it is. The date is unimportant.

This coin is all about eye appeal.

This coin is a work of art.

Of course the date is important!

Someone has been telling us that errors after 2002 are much more rare ;)

You should check out the new super rare error coin of mine that Mike just published in the "Discoveries" Link on the website Mint Error News.

This extraordinary rare coin has no date but was definitely struck after 2002 :)
