Paying DOUBLE For This Coin - Franklin Half

I fell asleep at the wheel this past Sunday and missed placing my final bid by 30 seconds.
I will pay double the hammer price ($156), possibly more, to anyone who can get this coin for me.

If that was a Great Collections auction, there is a decent chance it'll end up on eBay in the next couple of weeks. (I'll keep an eye out.)

Not the same coin, but another nicely toned example. (not mine)

If you emailed your desire to GC, do you think GC would forward to the successful buyer?

Ugh sorry as I've been there too as I'm sure many of us have been. To make you feel better I missed out on an item in 2008 I over the years would have paid 4 times for. Snagged it at 1/2 old auction price earlier this year as what goes around in this hobby in time comes around again. I would wait a bit as @braddick mentioned as there's a multitude of seller on eBay that exclusively rip on GC only to relist there.

This is the third or fourth time it’s happened to me over the years. This one hurt the most.

I was thinking and hoping the same thing.
I’ll have to keep an eye out.

If it ends up at the ANA show it will cost $800/$900 bucks.

I hope no one pays that much. It’s only a 65.
    66/66+ I could see that.

Have you ever been to an ANA show ? Prices have no basis in reality.

I guess beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I'd be relieved to have missed out on that one.

How about placing a bid that was much higher higher than the final selling selling price and not getting the piece? It's happened to me a couple of times, and the fault was with the auctioneer who slipped up with his manual bidding system.

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Guess you have to double one more time.
