The word "preponderance" is an interesting one to use, common for Lawyer-speak. To my way of thinking it needs to be viewed from both sides of the argument. Just to use some made up numbers as an example, the arbitrator seems to have ruled that six out of the 30 accusers are to be believed, so the preponderance of the evidence says that Watson is guilty. That also means that 24 accusers are doubtful and not to be believed, so what about the preponderance of that evidence??
I look at this whole thing and the integrity of the NFL argument in the same way as things that happened to me as a child in school or young adult while I still lived with my parents --- whatever I had done wasn't the real issue, I had embarrassed my parents, especially my Father. In the end that's what I was punished for. The NFL and Roger Goodell are tired of the negative media coverage so they want their pound of flesh from Watson.
I n a strange way, that insistence to punish him to the max is what's stringing this out, keeping it in the media and hurting the NFL "brand" in Goodell's mind. I think it's about time the owners band together and show him the door.
They should have shown him the door over deflate gate but they all hated the Patriots because they were so good so the looked the other way.

Those 24 have settled their dispute and so those allegations have "disappeared" so to speak, and should not be taken into consideration either for or against Watson.

What Goodell said today - excerpt from an ESPN article:
"We've seen the evidence, she was very clear about the evidence, she reinforced the evidence,'' Goodell said. "There were multiple violations that were egregious and it was predatory behavior.''
Yup, 'predatory behavior'
He wants a year ban, he will get a year ban as there is no appeal to the appeal so I have read and he appoints the person to hear the appeal.
Browns 6-11 season coming, at best. Who says you can take anyone no matter how 'egregious' (Goodell's word not mine), the players behavior has been?

Well deserved.
⁷The Browns are only paying him a million this year so he probably don't even care
Interesting, when an appeal for a longer suspension by the NFL happens, suddenly DW is saying 'sorry'. This after 1.5 years of denying any wrong doing. Kind of obvious why he now suddenly becomes repentive, LOL

They split the difference in suspended games between what Goodell wanted and what the arbitrator ruled. So a compromise was reached, wow, imagine that in these times, LOL. I like the addition of a $5 million fine, that and 11 games make this sound as serious as it was for what DW did and has now apologized for. Maybe that apology was taken into account to make the compromise instead of a full 17 games.
How long before Jimmy G ends up in Cleveland? They've got plenty of cap space to take on his 24M base salary and SF would probably take any halfway decent draft pick in return to just to be able to clear that much money off their own cap.
The n word was also yelled at him. I've made multiple posts in this brief thread, but because to Veach's bad PR, both Hunt and our company were screwed. Even though I detest the Browns (woah, full circle), I'm glad Hunt is doing well there even though he is a Rb2.

Not specifically about this case, but it blows my mind when people make decisions about the guilt of the accused based on 15 second clips on the TV news of the alleged victims while the DAs who have unlimited time and investigative tools don't even bring charges because there is not enough evidence to stand up in court. Rest assured that DAs have absolutely no incentive to let high profile criminals walk away.
It is the same for people who watch five minute news stories to second guess juries who have listened to every minute of testimony and watched the body language of the witnesses to assess credibility.
No doubt juries sometimes get it wrong and DAs don't prosecute real crimes, but I trust someone with vastly more information than someone who has just followed it with one eye on the news, even with expert commentary.

Well, one persons denial versus at least 25 independent accusers. I will go with the 25 to 1 odds that he did most of the things they claim. Even the official NFL assessment that investigated concluded that he was guilty many of the things he was accused for by these women. People get away with criminal activity all of the time, it does not mean they are not guilty just because a DA does not feel he/she can win a case and succeed in a prosecution. That is pretty common in sexual abuse situations like this..............

If Goodell was smart he would drag this out till more than halfway through the season then slap him with his one year

Breaking news: Looks like Watson will be suspended 11 games and fined 5 Million dollars.

They figured the best course of action was to specifically set the suspension so that his first game back would be at the Texans.
If the NFL appointed the arbitrator to rule on this matter it makes little sense that they appealed and then changed her ruling.

Bills former rookie punter, they released him because if all the negative backlash
The accusations are horrific but innocent until proven guilty, if these are false allegations this kid lost his NFL career over it already

@daltex, you've just summed up nicely the difference between a Court of Law and the Court of Public Opinion.
