We all like to throw around the term GOAT but Bill Russell was G.W.O.A.T. As far as I know he's still the only basketball player to win an NCAA championship,Gold Medal & NBA Championship in one year.
Russell was the NBA's Godfather and its a sad day today with his passing.

Bill Russell apparently also won two California state high school championships during his time at McClymonds High School in Oakland, California.
RIP Mr. Russell.
Honestly, he was a pretty average player in high school. He only got one scholarship offer - USF. That team was actually carried by a teammate, not Bill Russell. His teammate was awesome at hoops, too, but for some crazy reason chose another sport instead. Which was a ad for basketball but it worked out well for the Reds, the Orioles and Baseball Hall of Famer Frank Robinson.

Here he is - boxing out Wade Holbrook - the night Bill Russell became a national name as the Dons beat Oregon State, 57-56, to advance to the Final Four where they would go on to win their first of back to back titles for the University of San Francisco; one of my favorite pieces in my entire collection:
