1917-S Mercury Dime question
Hello!
Opinions welcome on the following Dime:
Seems to me that the S mint mark looks a little off compared to other 1917 S dimes I have seen.
Thank you,
Jeff

A larger photo from its Heritage auction appearance may be helpful.
Can you be more specific about what you don't like about the mm?
Here’s one from CoinFacts that seems to have similar placement.
Nothing is as expensive as free money.
I don't have my books handy, so shooting from the hip, but the 1917s came in 2 varieties so to speak. For the obverse there were both a higher and a lower relief. For the reverse, there were leftover 1916 reverse dies with a small S crunched up to the olive branch, and then 1917 reverse dies with a slightly different S more centered between the rim and the olive branch.
I'm not sure if anyone designates the differences, I'm sure a better Merc variety fan will have better details or pictures.

Thank you everyone for the feedback! I just purchased this coin from eBay, and felt like I took a gamble with the poor picture quality.
Cheers!

If you use the PCGS Cert Verification
https://www.pcgs.com/cert/27318586
you will see that it sold in a Heritage auction in 2013 for $485.
And if you create a free account at Heritage,
you can see the fairly high resolution photos.
These can be helpful tools for buying and selling.
Gorgeous coin! Enjoy it!
