Monsanto is now owned by Bayer ...
Even today, an XRF spectrometer isn't quite so user-friendly that a casual inexperienced user can just walk up to one and start using it, without training. Back in the 1960s, XRF was still cutting-edge technology, so would have been even more necessary to have a trained technician do the operating.
Of course, these days, we have portable hand-held XRF analysers, so you no longer need to send the coin to the lab - you can bring the lab to you.

Apparently I have been awarded one DPOTD.
Has detailed XRF analysis been performed on the Fugio material with new equipment? I would think it has, but do not recall seeing a detailed analysis presented. Cheers, RickO
Is XRF similar to SEM-EDX? We used SEM-EDX (Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy Dispersive X-ray) on magnetic chip detectors along Spectrometric Oil Analysis when I was active duty on jet engines for wear metal content. We had some pretty cool tools. On the other side of the house was the x-ray vault.

They are similar techniques to determine the elemental composition. I believe XRF will detect to smaller amounts with lab equipment. Don't think the hand held device is that sensitive.
LOL, hate to know the legal exposure of that these days....
Well, just Love coins, period.
