1958D MS66FBL Franklin and 1958D MS66+ Quarter

These two came from the same OGP set. They are so eye appealing (to me) I decided to post a separate thread just for them.
The half dollar is somewhat unique in that it has similar, mostly unbroken toning covering 100% of both the obverse and reverse of the coin.
The quarter has booming luster on the obverse.

those are the quintessential toners from the 58-d mint set boxes/cellophane but you are probably right that the half being toned obv and rev like that probably isn't as common. sure am glad the anit-toner dealers/collectors didn't ruin all of them for the rest of us coming down the line!
the next toners in mind that are ubiquitous are the 70-s lincoln target toners. it's almost like they came off an assembly line. kinda too bad whatever they used for those 70-s were used on a few more years!
nice grades and just about any day someone hits 66+ fbl on a frankie, is a good day.
@SanctionII ... Uniform tarnish, both sides, such as that Franklin half, is uncommon. If I recall some threads here years ago, it was attributed to the mint package. Might be mistaken... Cheers, RickO
A very nice set, I really like the Frankie. I agree with above post, you don't see toning on the obv and rev too often. I could see this in my collection as well. Thanks for posting.
love the franklin
The submission containing these coins is stuck in Quality Assurance (even after Trueview photos posted) and I have no idea when I will receive them back from our host.
I can hardly wait to get these coins (and the others in the same submission) back in my hands. It has been a long time since I have seen them. I forgot how eye appealing both of them are.
When the Trueview photos posted and I saw them my memory was refreshed and I remembered how excited I was when I first saw them in the OGP at a local show (my initial thought was SOLD!!!!!!!!).
I have to imagine when a submission like this- coins of this caliber- arrive; the graders can breathe a sigh of relief that at least these coins will be pretty to look at and grade.

Congratulations! Beautiful raw coins sitting for over a half century, now getting graded and protected by encapsulation. Enjoy!
