That looks like a modified cent... the last two does not look right. ICBW, not an expert on these. Cheers, RickO

unless something hinky is going on, looks legit.

hinky = photoshopped or buyer bought coin but claimed to find, perhaps even stolen etc. - will hope it is all on the level because i like when people find valuable items like this. :)

i fully admit, on the social media sites, my confidence is not there until proof is provided.

The coin in the image is real. The story? Meh... who knows.

It looks genuine and exhibits the markers for authentication, barring, of course, the fact that it might be fake. (but it looks real to me).

I never found good stuff like this. The best was a 1971 DDO Lincoln in AU.

Improbable, but not impossible. For the record, it looks legit.

Looks quite legit to me. High grade too.

Hopefully @CaptHenway will opine, he is literally writing the book on 1922 cents. Are there known counterfeit markers for this? What do I know, but I agree @ricko the last 2 looks off, font-wise, and with less wear than everything else.

They are different in reality. Looks like a 1922 no D Strong Reverse. Wow if true, great find.

I would like to quit being mistaken, then.

Presumably then, in 1922, the date was hand engraved somewhere in the hub/die production process, and not punched?

Has a very good chance of being genuine, though I am reluctant to say anything definite from those pictures.

As to the story, it could have come from a collection that was stolen and spend. Who knows?

I just took a look at the pictures to compare to a real example: It seems to have all the "bells and whistles" of a genuine example. The 2nd 2 and the weak areas on the obverse match but who knows where those Reddit pictures even came from.

The thinner second 2 in the date is one of the diagnostics for a genuine. FYI

The coin looks legit... ie, real 1922 no D, strong reverse. The story... meh, it's Reddit...
