The Bunny Money

I'm lucky to have in my possession my fathers coin collection, I own a quarter share along with my three older sisters. I joined this forum to learn about the coins, to value them, and to hopefully find the best way to sell them. Here's a short story about my fathers start in coin collecting.
This piggy bank is circa 1958, it sat on his desk before my earliest memories to the day I left home after graduating college in 1985, it moved with him and mom when they sold the house and downsized to the condo. After they passed I volunteered to work on the coins, that's how they wound up with me.
My parents were very frugal, I figure when he started filling the piggy bank he thought it would help with college, boy was he wrong. I recently interrogated the bunny as to the contents, and lets just say it lost its head and spilled its guts.
It held $15.39 in face value, over 150 wheat pennies, all silver nickels to half dollars, a battered 1953 $2 bill, and a 1963 Centavo. I think the newest coin was a 1973 penny. I guess he switched to the pink pig bank (picture on request) after '73. He started collecting coins as a hobby after the house was empty. We're holding commemorative silver coins, gold proof sets, Morgans (which I like and might keep), foreign coins, Buffalo nickels and Mercury dimes. My mother saved all her poker winnings in containers of all shapes and sizes. After I inspected and searched it all, I deposited $369.50 of face value coins in the bank. No wonder we had a coin shortage in 2020.
This is a great site for information, as an uneducated coin owner I thank everyone who contributes to the discussion. Coins have a certain fascination, I could easily get sucked into the void of coin collecting. I will keep searching the forum for information, and I enjoy the pictures of coins that you share. While the bunny bank is gone, my fathers wooden desk is now in my house, it still has a few good years left. Hopefully we all do.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised

The bunny bank was probably worth more than the contents.

@COTrails... Welcome aboard. Interesting story and good picture of the bunny bank and contents. If you have specific questions on a coin - i.e. value, grade etc. - post pictures along with your question. Cheers, RickO
Welcome aboard. What's the date and mintmark on that buffalo nickel?
