"Comic-Con" show report - coin related (barely)

I recently attended (as a visitor) the recent "FanExpo" Denver 01-03 July 2022.
It isn't called "Comic-Con" any more, but it is still the same sort of thing.
I would have stayed home, but my daughter wanted to go.

The show was extremely crowded. There were easily tens of thousands of visitors.
I thought I would see more fantasy coins for sale, but I didn't see any. Not even any John Wick coins.

I got the impression that people in the crowd were buying some things, but the vast majority of sales were way below $100. I think that, in general, attendees did not have a lot of money to spend. For example, I overheard one conversation where a person was talking about a $200 Thor hammer and their friend said that it was way too expensive for what it was.

I knew ahead of time that a voice actor from one of my favorite TV shows would be there doing signings.
So I printed this and got it signed at the show. I will put it up on the wall at my mint:

I have read about 'Comic-Con'... never went to one, or even knew someone who did attend. Thought it was a show for collectors of comics. Thanks for your report, convinces me that I will not be attending one in the future - not that I had any intentions thereof. ;):D Cheers, RickO

Used to go to comic con with my dad from 1987 till 2006, it just got too darn crowded and expensive. Plus, it wasn't about comics and such anymore, it's more hollywood. Kinda ruined it. Plus, it was fun when it was just us "geeks & nerds" coin, not it's gotten so mainstream that the charm it once had is long gone.

    Thanks for the report.

I remember going to a panel at San Diego Comic Con in 2014 for the Documentary "I Know That Voice". Billy West was featured in it, and maybe in attendance. I realized quickly that voice actors are some of the most fun people at conventions. They get to walk around the world anonymously, so they don't mind their opportunities to be in the fan spotlight.

Tom Kenny, folded to popular demand once again, and sung the Animaniacs nations of the world song from memory.

Thanks for the mini report! I was going to go but had to work and already had other plans for the other days.
Sounds like it was a plenty ok time, glad you got to give your daughter an experience she's interested in
