You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink

Saw this on eBay….1974-D Kennedy Half FS-101 DDO and immediately realized it wasn’t based on the pics he provided. And there were macros too. I tried to correct him and even provided pics of what the real deal looked like. He responded and told me that I should do some research. What a joke! I’ve specialized in doubled dies and rare die varieties for the past 30 years and here’s some guy with no feedback trying to tell me that I just wasn’t seeing things as he was. For the life of me I just can’t figure out how somebody could be so blind and ignorant when they have the proof staring at them right in the face. Here’s the listing:

Here are the pics I provided, and the conversation. Oh, and by the way, he says he’s an IT engineer.

Yes that is definitely one explanation for that kind of behavior. Totally agree 💯 Those exact words have come out of my mouth MANY times.👍👍👍 I’ve got some pretty strong feelings in regards to people like that. I don’t hesitate to share my thoughts on it when dealing with such people on eBay, or anywhere else for that matter.👍👍😎

I give you a lot of credit for taking the time to show this "dealer" with 0 feedbacks that it's not what he says
    Great job and thanks

Well, you tried. Many of us have been through that scenario. Sometimes it just will not work. Some people convince themselves that they have something, and no amount of evidence seems to deter them. Cheers, RickO

He also lists an" incredibly rare" 2021-P Kennedy with a die chip as "the only one known". But he has two of them.

Give a horse a block of salt. He will go in search of water. No leading necessary. Then there is the other cliche': " 90% of the people reserve the right to remain ignorant !"

I get many of these delusional people in the store and on the phone every week. Most have been “collecting” for a very short time but are sure the have found thousands of dollars in rare coins from circulation. Most want to argue with my and my 5 decades of experience because they “saw it on the internet”.

Ho hum. Lots of thirsty horses in this world. 🤔

Q: When does a collector become a numismatist?

A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.

A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.
