I think Bellevue Rare Coins won't be reopening the West Seattle store again after the robbery.
They still have other locations and I really enjoy visiting them. Most of the stuff I collect ends up on ebay since the collector base is so thin, so it's rare that I buy anything from them in person.

In my area over the years there hasn’t been a coin shop that didn’t try to sell everything at at least 50% over retail value. If it wasn’t for the local coin shows I would probably have not bought much of anything. I buy online when I need to but I prefer seeing coins in my hand first.
Yes, but there are far fewer than there used to be. Based on my recent experiences, many of the smaller coin shops are primarily in the business of buying coins and many of the coins they buy are sold on eBay or other auction venues or are wholesaled out to bigger coin dealers rather than selling to walk-in retail customers.

The only brick and mortar store @TwoSides2aCoin I frequent seems to be doing fine. The charismatic owner and his lovely wife operate two distinct businesses in one building: Coins and philosophy in one half, and stained glass and eggs in the other. I know for sure that the keno business across the street is thriving!
