This is the information I garner from the Moonlight Mint Catalogue

    530 produced ,
525 of which were antiqued (either lightly wear yellow, or heavy wear blue)
    5 were brilliant

Check to see if the coin has any wear on the high points, its possible it could have been an antiqued version that was "dipped" white.

Let us know, and feel free to share a pitcure with the group next time you are face to face with her.

I think he made antiqued and non antiqued. @dcarr would know for sure.

www.dc-coin.com is his website. It will also link you to a site where he maintains a catalog of all issues.

Off the top of my head, that sounds like one of his. Odd thar it turned up at a pawn shop. I wonder if it was stolen... The original owner should have known of better places to sell it for full value.

What was the price? That might help get you some opinions on how good a deal it is.

The DC website shows a small number as not having an antiqued finish with the 1921 counterstamp and a much larger number with a brilliant finish with no counterstamp. It might be one fo the former or one of the latter with an after-market counterstamp. Alternatively, there were lightly antiqued 1921 issues with the counterstamp and perhaps the antiquing is very faint or has been removed.

the lps owner said the guy came in and pawned the coin for personal reasons wanting to come back and take it out of pawn and never returned. he wants 300 for it, when i looked at it it has a nice cartwheel effect and doesn't looked cleaned, doesn't mean it isn't. will get pics on monday.

It's a recent issue. I'd be cautious, but I'm guessing it's likely in it's original configuration. No idea if the price is reasonable. I'm guessing he's asking for full value at least.

I believe that someday the d carr coins will be very valuable. Maybe not immediate but in 50 to100 years or so - numismatic legend, special mint press from Denver, and highly collectible even now with low mintages. No one else does what he does with the level of notoriety and success - he can’t even keep his coins in stock. And they are beautiful too.
    Just my opinion.

    I love your optimism.
Not so much the future pricing of Moonlight Mint coins yet rather generations from now will be collecting coins.

I like that these have the 2021 minting date counterstamp. Hard for anybody to think that this was actually made in 1921, though unfortunately there are people that stupid. You would not believe the number of calls I have taken over the last 47 years from people who had a Bicentennial quarter or half or dollar who started out "I have a coin made in 1776!!!"

I never could pronounce Roman numbers. Only vowel was an I. Like talking with dry oatmeal in your mouth.

I’m waiting for the genuine U.S. Mint issue 1964-D to show up on the market. I think it exists, just a matter of time til it makes its grand appearance. And when it does, look out! 🤩🤩🤩

    .
Definitely worth a follow-up visit: It's possible (but unlikely) that it's available for MUCH less than issue price.

That is, the pawn shop might've bought it for around bullion price -- especially if it was part of a large bullion hoard from unknowledgeable heirs looking for a quick sale.

But more likely it's priced over $200. Maybe WAY over. Even a rookie pawn shop salesperson can do a quick ebay search, finding this already-sold MCMXXI peace dollar: https://www.ebay.com/itm/234530738812?ViewItem=&item=234530738812

Maybe yes, maybe no. From another thread:

Set out on a little project to have my “1964-D” Fantasy Over-Struck Peace Dollars graded by PCGS. Happy to report that they’ve been graded…

...To be clear, the three 1964-D tokens I submitted were either Die Pair 5 or 6, minted in late 2010 and early 2011, respectively... My assumption is that later issues (e.g. Die Pair 9 from 2020) should not be eligible for grading at this time...

That's the rare blurry version. :D

If you're happy with it then I'd say it was a good purchase. They can't be very easy to find.
