    Moneyer reverse: Saric on Safte(Shaftesbury).

    Which marking identifies the moneyer?

    Reverse legend in retrograde.

    What does this mean?

It can safely be assumed that poor Saric probably lost his right hand and his testicles, maybe even his own life. Pretty cruel punishment, but that was life in medieval times.

    :o

I have this impression of the medieval times that everything was dirty and no one passed away of natural causes at an old age.
