Does anyone know what kind of planchet this would be?

A zinc cent should weigh 2.5 with a tolerance of +/- .10 low of 2.40 high of 2.60

Yours is very close to the low range and would most likely be considered within range.
It may have lost .02 due to circulation.

Stop wasting your time weighing stuff like this. It is a common cent that is worth one cent because there is nothing of any note unusual about it.

    Thank you.

The variation is likely explained by wear and perhaps low limit to start with.... Cheers, RickO
