Nothing is as expensive as free money.
I show my dollar coins a lot here. I’ll pick one I haven’t shown in a while… This is actually my second one I ever bought. It’s not special in any way and certainly not worth much. I don’t think I’ve posted it here before. It’s kind of a reminder to me that while I like the higher end examples I have now, I started out with more simple aspirations.

It's all I got! I don't think they're real.
Disclaimer: I'm not a dealer, trader, grader, investor or professional numismatist. I'm just a hobbyist. (To protect me but mostly you! 🤣 )
I'm surprised that gold dollars aren't more popular. I guess their small size has a lot to do with their limited popularity.

They have greatly increased in popularity over the last year. The number of sets I see and the available inventory reflects it. The dealer I work with goes to many shows and he has a hard time finding any for me that aren’t priced like 2x retail.
@asheland Do you or your significant other ever wear that pin? If so, have you ever had someone ask about it?

I bought it two weeks ago, maybe three, I put it on my shirt pocket on the way home from work and nobody at all noticed it.

Well, I showed one of my lowest graded ones, here’s one of the highest graded ones I have.

My 32 year effort. I am missing the 1855-D and the 1861-D. Likely will not be able to fill those holes.
My latest purchase. A mint error on a tough date.

@liefgold
JUST AMAZING !!!! Great collection. congratulations !!

All the Os with the 52 being a mint error as well. My focus was surface preservation w/original skin and color, I have a matched 54o 3$ that slides in the date gap and matches the type 2/3 design

I do not have any of the one dollar gold coins... Just too small for me.... I do have a couple of small Mexican gold coins - purchased to help a fellow out who needed some cash. Cheers, RickO
I have two for my type set, one more and that will be where I stop. Too hard on the eyes! I'd rather focus on $10 & $20's.
This one may be my favorite. It might even go PL if regraded.

Nice looking 1884. It just might PL. They are very picky about the PL designation though. I submitted this one for PL and did not get it.
Honest wear, not uncirculated (sorry):
Would the obverse or reverse cause a "details" grade?
Well, just Love coins, period.
Can't seem to get the obverse to blow up without looking crazy on this iPhone:
