On top of it being 4.8 grams
We'll see...WHAT? What brought your attention...?
No.
What you are looking for is a hole in the bottom of the R in E Pluribus, a die crack from the dome to Pluribus, or a distinct die gouge dot on the far left of the left balcony (all these diagnostics are on the reverse.)
P. S. A Henning will be OVER 5 grams.

You were given some bad advice on what to look for. Unfortunately yours is not a Henning Nickel. There must be a dent in the "R" of PLURIBUS as in the photo of @jesbroken post.
With that being said, some of the 1944 Henning Nickels do not have a dent in the "R" but are identifiable by the missing mint mark.
I would like to add a Henning Nickel to my collection one day, a certified version to keep it from flowing back into circulation accidently.
BST transactions: dbldie55, jayPem, 78saen, UltraHighRelief, nibanny, liefgold, FallGuy, lkeigwin, mbogoman, Sandman70gt, keets, joeykoins, ianrussell (@GC), EagleEye, ThePennyLady, GRANDAM, Ilikecolor, Gluggo, okiedude, Voyageur, LJenkins11, fastfreddie, ms70, pursuitofliberty, ZoidMeister,Coin Finder, GotTheBug, edwardjulio, Coinnmore, Nickpatton, Namvet69,...
I would like to add a Henning to my collection as well, but the prices have gone crazy IMHO. Good luck and I do believe that ICG will "certify"/slab them, but don't believe that our hosts or any other TPG currently slab counterfeits.
I thought I had one that I purchased years ago (around 2001)... and it is a fake. I still have it somewhere. Determined it was fake quite a while after I got it. Cheers, RickO
.
you have a FAKE henning?!?!?
@LanceNewmanOCC ....
Yep, a fake Henning fake coin..... Cheers, RickO
So your saying you have a fake fake
Steve
.
)
my heart trusts ricko here but my brain says it is probably an authentic fake until i see proof otherwise. (fwiw, i have had people show me coins they THOUGHT were fake, that i was able to authenticate as legit, so i have a few precedents in questioning fakes and fake fakes to the benefit of the owner, sometimes.
if you are ever so inclined to post it, if you haven't already, please feel free as at the VERY least, it will be educational, unless it is just a normal silver nickel with the mint mark ground off or something, in which case it is just altered.
ah, i know how to get him to post it...
@LanceNewmanOCC...
OK, I have to find it first.... will look for it shortly. Cheers, RickO
@ricko Was your fake Henning nickel a real nickel where someone removed the mintmark? They sell for enough money that I can see someone doing this.

@PerryHall... If I can find it, I will check on the mint mark, as I recall, it did not have the PUP's that I learned about here back in - I think - 2002. Will try to find it and post information/picture. Cheers, RickO
OK, lets ponder this...........wouldn't all Authentic Jefferson Nickel be considered Fake Henning's ?
Just Wondering
Steve
That might be a dangerous assumption.
There is enough variety in the Hennings that PUPs can be problematic (we're talking about Pick Up Points, and not dogs, correct?
).
If it is 1944 with no mintmark and made of "nickel" (CN alloy) then I assume they are real Hennings, atleast until someone in China takes note of them.
I bought this one last month. Never thought I would ever be able to acquire one.
I believe the reason that the nickel was classified as damaged is because if you look at the Reversed you'll see the ring of death caused by coin roller machine.

To be honest that rolling machine ring just proves how successful the counterfeits are/were, and provides some authenticity.
There are undoubtedly a few still out there serving their purpose.
Well, I have searched, and searched for my fake Henning nickel. No sign of it. I did find my fake 'Racketeer' nickel that I thought I lost. I will have to think about where I might have put the other nickel.... I know where it 'should' have been... It was not... and not in three other places. Oh well... Cheers, RickO
I have a genuine authenticated counterfeited nickel.
My current registry sets:
20th Century Type Set
Virtual DANSCO 7070
Slabbed IHC set - Missing the Anacs Slabbed coins
I have two very real fake genuinely authenticated counterfeit Henning's! 😂 🤣

Those little holders are kind of cool. Maybe I should get mine slabbed too.
ok the nomenclature is a bit, umm, peculiar here so let me get this straight; you found a fake racketeer or an authentic fake racketeer?
the henning you are looking for is a fake fake AND the racketeer is a fake fake?
@LanceNewmanOCC .... Your final analysis is insightful and correct.
Cheers, RickO
Not all hennings have the looped R, but yours is light for a henning and doesn't really have that "look".
