Anybody had any trouble paying the US MInt

OLCOLC Posts: 404 ✭✭✭

I received a shipment from the US Mint. A couple of days later I received a letter stating that Due to a failure to receive proper authorization from my credit card they could not collet the balance owed for the merchandise shipped. Not for sure what happened but I called them to try and pay. They couldn't see on their end which credit card I used and I couldn't tell on my end either. When I looked online under payment method it was blank. I had a credit card to pay them with and they filled out a form and sent on to another department and I asked for a reference number and they gave me a work flow #. They said someone would call me within a week. I asked if all my current orders were OK because I didn't want a hold put on them and they said they were all OK and they wouldn't put a hold on them. Today was 9 days and I haven't heard from them so I called them back. They said all my orders were on hold they did another work flow # and said someone would call me within a week. Sure is hard trying to pay them the $600 I owe them. Probably lose my orders since they are sold out. Any ideas?

This has happened to me - though it was due to a PayPal issue, not a CC issue. They will eventually charge the new CC you gave them over the phone. You won’t necessarily hear back from them unless they can’t successfully charge the new card. Once you see the charge successfully go through, you should call the Mint again and ask them to release your other orders. It’s supposed to happen on it’s own, but it probably won’t and it’s best to call. Make sure you go through and have them release every single order one at a time. It took about two weeks to resolve for me from the time I provided a new CC until my new card was charged and my orders were released. Good luck - it takes a lot of patience!

Yes , My order was originally charged on a card through Paypal. It took over a month for it to ship once I placed the order. The authorization may have expired. I don't know.

I have never had an issue with the Mint. Of course, I only buy a couple of items a year usually... sometimes none. I just check each year in January on my subscriptions and CC's on file. Cheers, RickO

    Off topic humor warning.
I only have problems paying the IRS division of the Treasury Department.

I had over $75,000 in mint orders canceled last year due to a $25 order going sideways. I changed my PayPal email addresses, or something similar, and they shipped the set without getting payment. The set was delayed several months so I wasn’t expecting any charges when I made the switch.

The mint sent a letter to my old address, which I haven’t lived in for 5 years. No email, no phone call, just canceled all the orders at once.

I asked if they could just charge the credit card on file and gave them my security code. That seemed to work after trying to get ahold of someone for over a month. Typical run around and completely unnecessary.

    Good luck.

Make sure you don’t have any pending PayPal payments when you make a change.
