$8 Find - 1928-S Lincoln Cent UNC (well... kinda...)
Was trolling recently posted Ebay listings and I saw five Lincoln Cents listed for $8. Here's what they looked like:
That coin in the top right caught my eye. It was correctly described as a 1928-S and had pretty severe carbon spotting but looked like it had decent luster and retained quite a bit of original Red. The obverse is weakly struck which as most of us know is pretty common on branch mint cents from this era. 1928-S is really the last of the S-mint Lincoln Cents that is quite tough in UNC although it is quite a bit easier to find with original Red than dates like 24-S and 26-S. Figured for $8 I'd give it a shot.
So here's the coin in hand:
Well, it's lustrous and maintains quite a bit of original Red. Kind of a shame it has such heavy spots, but it's definitely still a solid win for $8. It looks excellent in my Dansco and really stands out from its brown XF neighbors in the album! Hope others here enjoy the coin as well.

Nice pickup and a good album filler.... Cheers, RickO
The 1955-S is also a neat coin.
