interesting, now you mention it, i think the majority of the textile toners i've seen have been non-CCs and they seem to be ultra-scarce in GSA hardpacks or they've been hoarded for a long time creating availability scarcity.

As CC Morgans are my focus I agree whole heartedly. I find very few and look for them every chance I get.

do you spend much time tracking PUPs and diagnostics (aka vamworld) for die marriages for authentication/discovery purposes?

This should be true due simply to the populations.

I don't recall many either. Also the CC's to me seemed to tone not as vibrantly as some other issues in general. I would have thought with the generally lustrous nature of the CC that the toning would have come through better but to me it seems to be the opposite.

I always check my dollars for VAMs and make a note if significant. I don't care about discovery and have several dollars that would qualify (Peace especially) but not CC's.

now you mention it, that is odd because the flans were made at philly and shipped to branch mints, right? which means whatever greases, lubricants, saw dust etc on the flans for p, d, s etc would also be on the flans for cc, d, c, o etc. unless the branch mints DID use their own concoctions to keep coins from sticking to dies and cc simply used something that was not as subject to toning AND/OR because of the value, simple more of them were dipped and perhaps more than once.
in one of my many conversations with leon hendrickson, he told me (as well as others) that they dipped so many coins in their home (before silvertowne was built) that it corroded through the sink they used for rinsing and as far as i could tell, that protocol continued to silvertowne and never stopped. the general public (the real bulk buyers) tend to like white coins over the decades more so than toned.

when you get a chance, no hurry whatsoever, will you look this over, including the text at the top and give suggestions/comments? LINK
edited to add: i'm not certain if i have the original.
An amazing piece of history revealed and authenticated in that beauty! Certainly not the burlap that I've seen mentioned incorrectly in some writings.
Boy I bet Miss Liberty was tired of having her face pressed into the bottom of that bag for a hundred years!

Dryer environment and maybe less sulfur in their bags.
