I bring this up because Colin Cowherd is saying the Rams should be America's team, which team do you think deserves the title, the Cowboys, Patriots, Rams, other? Here is the video of Colin Cowherd's explanation for picking the Rams as America's team.

Browns are America's team. cannot elaborate more so it will not get closed down.
My Dallas Cowboys of course!
That Cowherd guy said it just like it is........Bottom line......The Rams Organization NEVER Delivers Bad News. It starts at the top....there is no putting up with crap nonsense on the team.....NONE.....ZERO!......Go to a Rams game.......the organization does everything to make it an enjoyable experience. Yes,....I know there are fights is the stands. So what?....They have people outside the stadium before and after the game who's job is to help anyone who looks like they need assistance. The cheerleaders help out with that job too. The people working at the food and drink concessions are happy, friendly, helpful. The aisle attendents are always ready to give and recieve a hug......When you leave the game?.....Always people lining the exits and asking if you enjoyed the game and thanks for coming! IT STARTS AT THE TOP and it filters down to the players on the field......Perfect business model........There is a reason that they are the champs............. Look for a repeat.
Also.....the Rams organization sends out e-mail after the games asking if everything was o.k. at the game and asking for ideas to make it better........Even personal phone calls.....they do that.....Yea,.....Do other teams do that?????.....I don't think so....
I don't think it's allowed to start a thread based on a Cowherd segment. 🤷
I actually never saw or heard the guy until I watched the video on this thread...... I have heard the name.....that's all. I gotta' get out more! Am I cancelled? 😵🔨
...
He's a "hot take" guy. Entertaining. But all over the place. There was a time years ago when he had his own show on ESPN radio. I used to listen to it more than I should have, because I listen to a lot of talk radio (sports, politics, and more) and it was in my rotation of channels. If you listen to him enough you will hear him contradict himself a lot.
Anyway, here are a few zingers I remember him spewing. I've mentioned these here before when he came up in conversation.
Alright, that's enough,. I was going to do more. I have more. But I think you get the point.
Phil. Eagles. What's more symbolic for America than our National Symbol, the eagle.
Definitely not the Rams.
Terry Bradshaw was AMAZING!!
Ignore list -Basebal21
Because the Rams finally win a Super Bowl they are now America’s team?
LOL OK
Disclaimer: This is not directed at Mr or the the lovely Mrs Hydrant. It’s just a jab at that idiot Cowherd
I never really thought of that, the Patriots are worthy as well since they won our independence from the Red Coats
Cowherd is so awful.
It is clearly the Patriots. I mean, remember Lexington and Concord?
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
IIRC, the league, along time ago, asked the Steelers to take on that moniker. They said no. Then the Cowboys said yes. As with the Thanksgiving game, they are grandfathered in.
no kidding! I never heard that one before.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Don't get me wrong guys. No way do I consider the Rams to be "Americas Team." Hell, half the football fans in L.A. , maybe more, root for other teams! I think the whole concept of "Americas Team" is just silly. Leave it to Cowboys Inc. and their oversized Texas ego to come up with something so ridiculous. They can have it. I don't want it!
P.S. I love Texas and Texans......I refer to the place as Eastern SoCal. Basically the same place with just a slight variation of accents among the oldtimers. No Joke.
...
That's how I remember it anyway. 😂 I'm pretty sure I've heard it that way a few times here on Dallas radio. It's told when people criticize the Cowboys for being called that. It want their idea. It was the leagues.
..
I didn't want to say it, but since you did...the Rams arent even LAs team.
..
Do I just looked it up, to verify my theory above. I can't find the Steelers part, but I know that I heard that several times. They rejected it. Apparently the league then used it in a marketing/highlight video to describe the Cowboys in the late 1970s. From what I've read the league did it on their own. I really have heard that the Steelers rejected it. The history of the Cowboys is frequently discussed here, particularly around Thanksgiving, by old-timers who know their stuff. If I ever hear the story again, I'll update you guys. Or maybe someone else here knows it. Anyway, Landry hated it. He felt it made them a target. But the league wanted a team that they could try to push on people who didn't already have a team they rooted for. And it worked. The Cowboys were marketed heavily, and Jerry Jones then pushed this even further globally.
Here's a personal anecdote. As I've said, my wife is Brazilian. She moved here in 98. I met her in 99. We married in 2000. She quickly was made aware of my weekly football watching tradition. Of course football to her is soccer. She knew nothing of American football, but all the way in Brazil she had heard of two teams. The Raiders and the Cowboys. Lol
let me preface my response by saying that i don't think i'm a modicum better than anyone else who walks the face of this planet. i don't care who you are or where you're from. that's not how my mind operates. with that said, i love you Hydrant and i love any and all of my brethren who live in Cali, but this may be the most inaccurate statement i have ever read on these boards. i'm a born and raised Texan and if i were to tell anyone here that we essentially live in Eastern SoCal, i assure you the responses would merit recognition.
and a slight variation of accents? i almost had a stream of coffee pour out of my nose when i read that. one of these days i'm going to call you in the middle of the night and give you an earful of a wicked drawl. i may even say "y'all" and "fixin" 500 times before you can hang up on me.
saying that Texas and Cali are basically the same place is like saying the Bears are America's team
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
Oh, So True!.....😂
I was biting my tongue last night on this topic because of this. Football is watched around the world more than ever as we have seen more international games over the last decade. To me there is no "America's Team". Sorry Hydrant but not even the Rams and not the Raiders, although Raiders had a good shot at the "Blue-Collar" team until the Vegas move going from one of the most affordable games to attend to the most expensive.
And yes Cowherd says a lot of non-sense, like above. But these "analysts" paid to stir the pot and get people to watch their segments. Cowherd did his job here, as this thread got him a few more. Can't blame them for doing their job, but we can blame ourselves for holding their comments in such high, or low, regards.
As for some of the confusion to the origin of "America's Team", yes the Steeler's were first given the nickname and quickly refused it as Rooney wanted it to be Pittsburgh's team, knowing how much the fan base and city meant to the franchise and vice versa. The Cowboys were given the nickname in the 1978 NFL films season highlight reel by Bob Ryan, due to contributing factors such as being Landry was in a record breaking winning season streak, they were regularly featured in nationally televised games, and had record setting home game attendance and Ryan wanted to give a little extra flair to the reel. Landry also first rejected the nickname, although only because he was worried teams were going to play harder against them not quite the same love and respect for his team and city as Rooney. But the nickname caught on when CBS announcer Pat Summerall used the nickname during the first game of the 79 season against the Cardinals. Landry eventually came to embrace the nickname and the rest is history.
Here is a link to an article from Bleacher report reviewing the history a bit, although slightly biased from a Steelers fan, but they do argue Packers case as deserving of the title. Not sure it's the best example but just first one I found.

..
I'm just happy that this time I didn't misremember.
I liked the Raiders when they were in Oakland, that's how I like to remember them, those 70s teams with Ken Stabler and Jack Tatum and John Madden, their vicious rivalry with the Steelers, they belong in Oakland. I don't like Mark Davis with his stupid haircut and his sinister plans.
I was fixin to give Hydrants original comment a disagree, but then I remembered it was 2022 and that that button is history.
Who gives two hoots what Cowherd says or thinks?
He has disgraced the NFL and I no longer care about it for several reasons.
I agree with you, Omni. I also gave this topic thought last night, my conclusion? There is no " Americas Team." It's A silly idea.
And, I need to clear something else up about my previous post......Courtesy of The Lovely Mrs. Hydrant™. She set me straight.......I was discussing this topic with her. I mentioned about how helpful and friendly all the SoFi stadium workers are and how wonderful it is for everyone. She looked at me, shook her head, and said, "Are you stupid? They're nice and friendly to YOU because they know you....they're not like that with everybody."..... Yea, I guess I'm pretty stupid. But,......when you're the stadium " Rock Star"...it's easy to slip into fantasy land and think that life is just fabulous for everyone else too.......Oh,...The Problems of The Rich and Famous!.....😎
And,....about those post game emails and personal telephone calls?.....The Lovely Mrs Hydrant's reply to that?, "How dumb can you be?"🤷......pretty dumb I guess.....😵
i see what you did there
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
..
Alright, the elephant in the room must be discussed. I demand that you tell me and all my forum brethren why exactly you are the so-fi rockstar. And be specific....
Hydrant, every time I see your posts, I think of George Thorogood and the Destroyers' song "Who do you Love?"
I walked forty-seven miles of barbed wire, I got a cobra snake for a necktie
A brand new house on the road side, and it's a-made out of rattlesnake hide
Got a brand new chimney put on top, and it's a-made outta human skull
Come on take a little walk with me baby, and tell me who do you love?
Who do you love?
Now around the town I use a rattlesnake whip, take it easy baby don't you give me no lip
Who do you love?
Who do you love?
I've got a tombstone hand and a graveyard mind, I'm just twenty-two and I don't mind dying
It's A combination of things...... everything just sort of fell into place starting at a young age. I wasn't looking for it.....it came to me......like The Lovely Mrs. Hydrant™ did.......I've always just minded my own business and then,.....WHAM!.....Good stuff happens.......like I just found out this morning that I own a laundromat in Idaho because I got the bill for the new coin operated washers and dryers!.....Who would have thought?.....I just accept things as they are. My main concern right now is fixing the emergency break on my 1976 Chevy Silverado 4x4....... The truck Tom Brady is responsible for wrecking. When it cools down here today I'm going to adjust that sucker and then go down to the lower North End and drag the place. I keep it simple, low profile.... as far as being the " Sofi Rock Star?"......I never told anyone to call me that....They just do.......It's out of my control. I think maybe a Ram cheerleader started it.....and then it just spread......The Lovely Mrs. Hydrant™ and the Hydrant boys tell me people call me that because I'm "Different."...... They would know.....Sorry, but I cant blow my cover, The Lovely Mrs. Hydrant would be angry... She likes to keep a low profile too.......
Anyway,...I've got an emergency brake to fix.
My Friends and me........
Do I look happy????.... Humm...😵
...
I'm quoting it before you delete it. Can you sign a print of that and auction it here around Christmas time for charity? I know some guys who might bid.
Thanks for that nugget Show! As a lifelong Cowboy fan I never knew that. Maybe I was young when that occurred??
My Friends and Me
Of course I will, Showman! It'll be my pleasure! All the auction proceeds will go to the Danny Thomas Hospital for children in Memphis, Tennessee. My favorite charity. I'll have my accountant start working on it. ASAP.......
Very interesting and insightful of you Alfie Baby.......because..... The name DELAWARE DESTROYERS...is my all time favorite name for a band!!!!...Bar None!.....And the answer to the question????
A Picture Says A Thousand Words......
The Lovely Mrs. Hydrant.....and Baby Jenny....Among others, I might add.......
The band name "The Red Hot Chilli Peppers" comes in second..... Speaking of Red Hot Chilli Peppers.......Oh, those Texas gals.......Chicken Fried Steak..... And SO MUCH MORE on the side!
...
It was around 78 when this happened. I'm only privy to this information by osmosis via DFW sports radio overload.
....
simple pleasures for a simple man
not simplistic, that's different
THIS IS THE BIG ONE. YOU HEAR THAT, ELIZABETH? I'M COMING TO JOIN YOU HONEY.
i can't believe this day has finally arrived. ok @Hydrant, i have a message for you to pass along to the lovely one...............you (hydrant) completely, 1000% outkicked your coverage
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
I agree 1000% Galixico.....Thats what I meant when I said,......I'm just minding my own business then....WHAM!....something good happens to me! I posted the photo just for you....because you asked...long ago....Backstory.......In November, 2020, we got bad news. The Lovely Mrs. Hydrant™ was very ill and things did not look so good. Worst period of our life then to now....I want you guys to know that I always kept her up to date on Sports Forum goings on......every morning..... First thing when she woke up......Especially you Dragon Master......your Aaron Rodgers and Terry Bradshaw posts always brought A smile to her face.....no matter what. We always talked about the forum.....she loves football. Her only activity during the time was going to Rams games and throwing football parties. That's all she could handle and that was difficult...... But.....football......she had to see the Rams in The SB and win it!.....They did......it did her good! I think she lived for it. That and the Little Hydrants....and worrying about who would feed me chicken fried steak!.... No joke.. Well, it came down to the operation last April.......Hey!.....Miracles Happen!.... The photo was taken just a week or two ago......you can see the love for Grandma in Baby Jenny's face. What a relief! Hey, you guys....all of you, helped us get through it. I'm grateful.... Thanks.
FOOTBALL MAMA....TEXAS....THEY GROW TOUGH GIRLS!
None of them - everybody nowadays has their allegiance to their team and they will fight for that right (literally) - "strange times indeed, most peculiar Mama! "
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
@Hydrant i'm glad she is doing well my friend..........she looks fantastic. and baby Jenny is adorable & clearly loves her grandma.
i'm glad all of us knuckleheads could provide a diversion.............even if it has been a totally mindless one the overwhelming majority of the time
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
Maybe the elephant in the room is not @Hydrant 's rock star status origin story. Maybe it is the fact that we all really need each other. Come on guys, get in here. Group hug...
>
Yep!
The team in the black with white stripes clothing, and carries a whistle. (Ask New York NFL central)
LOL
Any given game day performance of a team with humility and sportsmanship.
So here's to the unnamed team.
You and these pretend puzzle pictures, you had me staring at one every time I logged on and could never unlock the mystery. Stop messing with us! 😂
In the weekly PWCC auction . . .
I like how you got John Lennon in there! Nice!
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
Simmer Down Boy......I stand by my statement. I think I said SoCal was like Texas, not Northern California, and I also mentioned the old timers around here. Brief history lesson.....Southern California was pioneered and settled by refugee Texans after the Civil War. Texans built Southern California..... Deep roots here. That's A fact. You couldn't find ANY family, when I was a kid, around here that didn't have a Texas branch. Nobody!.....As far as the accents are concerned?..... You have no idea how many times I have been asked, "Are you from Texas?"...... same with The Lovely Mrs.Hydrant™. I have spent a big part of my life in Texas......From Van Horn up to Amarillo mostly. Folks there take it for granted that I'm I local. It's the accent. Old time Southern Californians and West Texas people talk the same, we even say ya'all, we pronounce it yawl, live the same, eat the same food, think the same things........Texas/SoCal?.....Not a dimes worth of difference.....same place, very few if any difference at least for the ranch crowd!......YIPPEE! 🐂 🐎
P.S. I think it's really interesting how people in Texas complain about all the California people who are moving in. I know lots of people here that are doing just that. Whole families. I'll miss them.......The funny part?......Those folks are just moving back home from where their parents and grandparents came from.......Going Home......Why not? ........Home Is Where The Heart Is!........GOD BLESS TEXAS!......REMEMBER THE ALAMO!
All the Californians migrating to Texas, won't take long before Hydrant's claims are more accurate.
You got that right. Two entire families that I know just moved there. Grandparents, parents, kids, everybody........... A young man was at the house working on the AC here a month ago and he told me that he is moving to Texas with his family and that they are going to live near his brother who also just moved there! .....then, I asked one of my boys why we never hear from an old high school girlfriend of his anymore. He told me she moved to Texas!......Oh and I forgot this one......The Lovely Mrs. Hydrants™ long time best friend also just moved to Texas to be close to her children and grandchildren who also moved to Texas from here!.....and this one!.........I ran into a young man, a locksmith, awhile back and I asked why I never see him around town anymore....... You got it........moved to Texas with the wife and kids!.....
But it's not just Texas......people are moving in droves and heading out just anywhere to get away from here. It makes sense. Young people are priced out of the housing market, can't find a good job, and gas is $7 a gallon around here now. It's a hopeless situation for them.
