1955 DDO question

So I was researching the 1914 D LMC and scanned it with Google lens and I seen this DDO caught my eye on sale on eBay for $2100 or so.
My question is liberty sometimes messed up as shown in pictures or only really clear as per PCGS pictures?
Thanks all
PS then I seen another

I don't know what you mean by messed up. When coins wear, the letters get worn down and start to merge.
All 1955 DDO are IDENTICAL when struck.
Oh I'm focusing on the "BERTY" of liberty, sorry & I should've said it doesn't look right,,,jmo,,,, more precise question are both LIBERTY on the coins I presented legit?

Don’t buy this coin raw, not worth the risk in my opinion. Seek out an NGC or PCGS graded example for this key coin.
"So I was researching the 1914 D LMC..."
LMC? What's that?
Oh sorry
Lincoln oh snap lol I was wrong.
doh 😣 which now I'm winging it I meant should be LWC Lincoln wheat cent
Lincoln memorial cent was supposed to be LWB Lincoln wheat back
Thanks

If it's LMC for Lincoln memorial cent, why isn't it LWBC for Lincoln wheat back cent?
Sounds proper Mason I bet they didn't like the back sound of it like,,IHC Indian head cent,, kinda makes you wonder who comes up with em
I don't know why they aren't just LC. There's no transitional year where both were issued.
What about the shield reverse? LSC?
And what of 2009?
All genuine 1955DDO have a die marker that can be used to authenticate them. There's two vertical die polish lines just to the left of the vertical upright of the T in CENT that cross forming a very narrow X.

Just wear that makes the difference from coin to coin. All struck identical. Cheers, RickO
Well then I'm in penalty mode top coin fails altered Liberty based on color alone.
Bottom coin fails altered Liberty & date wrong color. Jmo oh one of them is graded
Thanks all
Beyond being ungraded, those carbon spots are unattractive on the ebay coin. Hard pass.

"Fails" huh... good to know the what the local overnight expert thinks. Surely he knows more than PCGS could ever dream of knowing.

Wow 😳 ok let's put Walter Breen's book on our website then deny almost everything in it,,,, I'm no where even being close to novice some might say.
All I do is take knowledge that's out there both new and old & combine them,,, don't blame the messenger.
After all these are just my opinions
Thanks
I also wanna clear this up on all my posts,,,, never am I saying you all are wrong.
Just questions and opinions
I respect all your opinions also
Thanks all 😊
You really think PCGS "failed " to get the 55 DDO right and slick got it right from a picture... based apparently on the color of the date?
I understood he said about my rights to an opinion.
also I never ever said you all got it wrong,,,I should've said they fail in my eyes.
That's what I got from it
Sorry if that's how it seems
Thanks
Post count has absolutely nothing to do with it. There are some very knowledgeable folks around here with less than 100 posts who don't pull nonsensical theories out of thin air.
You like to say a lot of "things" without saying things.
Both probably alts of zippyzip and oil2olay that somehow haven't gotten banned yet.

Why does everyone always think I'm an alt of somebody?
I'm hoping to at least make somewhat sense, I know most of almost everything I say is like a drop in the river of hearsay of another,,, sometimes yes I am guilty of conjuring something up out of thin air or it may seem.
For these aspects I do apologize,,, anyways all is good 👍
PS I'm not trying to prove anything just asking questions & giving my 2 cents.
Thanks all
@SlickCoins
Weren't you banned from another TPG sponsored site for repeatedly trolling nonsense about an early large cent.
I also see where you tried the same thing here in another thread but were called out by the EAC expert when you kept hinting that he thought it might be real. (funny how numismatics is such a small world)
Many times, people trolling these boards are alt IDs of former disgruntled members. Maybe that's why people think you use an alt ID
Hey Hoopster
how's it going?

I'm sure I've been called out many times,,, to bad nobody has had in your face you're wrong evidence. Are we talking 1793? Overlay maybe?
See that's why I wanna meet people cause I'm me and not any alt you wanna say I might be and I'll prove it.
Hope all is well Hoop
Thanks all again sorry I'm so adamantly driven.
PS that was John huh 😃
I wish I had a reset button but then again I wouldn't be me so,,, all I can say is we are here and this is all messed up and I wish it wasn't so.
Did the EAC expert make an appearance? I mean the one I said that it wasn't real cause it was missing edge ornamentation.
4 hours in not saying people don't have things to do but it took everyone else seconds.
If you all have evidence to help shut this down,,,, I'm all ears and would be totally grateful.
Maybe we can see the overlay I'm sure was done just out of curiosity?
Thanks
PS there's a typo where it was supposed to say 4 hours I'm*
Do you think we're all reading this thread about a 1955 DDO and thinking 1793 chain cent?
I think we're mostly tired of playing with you. Believe what you want. Pay your tuition. Not even your mother trusts you more than PCGS
It's a 1793 wreath cent sorry I jumped when Hoopster was mentioning it, also for the record if you watched William's video you'd know the chain cents were all different.
Wow ok,,,, oh I can feel the burn,,,, pay the tuition to who cause it sure ain't worth it yet from my point of view?
All good no worries,,,, oh for sure I trust coin people who stick to the facts and not where or what someone is doing in their personal lives.
How does my opinions spiral into let's bash my theory on said coins?
Thanks
From 55 DDO to 1793 cents - What happened?
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
Messed up lettering in LIBERTY, (BERTY)
The doubling in LIBERTY and the date are not off in a straight line, its runs at a bit of an angle, what your seeing is towards the end of LIBERTY the alignment comes just a bit closer together, but its not messed up, well the doubling itself is messed up making it an error strike coin.
The Red Book states that the doubling needs to be distinct in these three areas,
Date,
IN GOD WE TRUST, &
LIBERTY,
Anything less is mentioned as minor doubling.
Here is a picture of mine, this was the online posted image for the coin when I bought it!

If you notice most counterfeits don't reproduce the doubled bow tie or the doubled eyelid,
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
Look at the LIBERTY on this 55 DDO, notice how the two rows of letters are offset evenly, its a counterfeit, and a bad one at that.

Introducing this coin will only confuse the thread. How is adding an image of a bad fake helpful in authenticating the OP's coin?
Very nice coin Mark
thanks for sharing, let's use yours as a great example.
Also note his color vs the fresh copper looking ones,,,jmo

I'm not saying anyone is wrong or I'm right, just look how much more clear Mark's coin is.
PS the third one down is kinda close to Mark's which is top.
Thanks all awesome thread
@jmlanzaf thank you for the coin compliment
My coin is also PCGS graded AU58
Not a good picture of the coin but it shows the slab & tag.
EDITED the original image to only include the 55 DDO! (less coins, less confusion)

My thought was the title poster stated that the "BERTY" looked messed up and the discussion was going back & forth about genuine or not. I had an example of how some counterfeit 55 DDO's might look in the details at LIBERTY, to which I thought the straight line doubling though wrong, may be considered Not messed up looking.
If that post is a problem I can surely edited it down to an OOPS and a smilely face?

Time to add another to the ignore list.

LOL. Remind me not to say "good morning" to you...
