I have a 1943 silver penny when I looked it up online it's said that it was a steel penny and a magnet should stick to it if it's copper it will not well my ? is mine is silver but doesn't stick to a magnet so not sure what I have please help
Picture would help. If it is silver colored, it is probably steel, as it is supposed to be. It can't be silver colored and copper unless plated.
You can also weigh it. The weight should be 2.7 g. A copper cent would weigh 3.1 g.
If it were silver, a dime planchet, it would weigh 2.5 grams.
You might also try a stronger magnet. It was not uncommon to plate these when the zinc corroded. If it was plated with something nonmagnetic your magnet might not stick.
@neeby5150 ... This is your second post on this coin... Please try to link some images and if possible check the weight. Cheers, RickO
