My grades are in ... My grades are in!! 8D

Happy day B) , after a 4 month wait for my Modern Value 27 coin quarterly special (4 + 1 free) submission.
I was wondering if I crashed their database?? :p Got the email about the grades soon after the db issues were resolved today.

Its a smattering of ASEs and Morgan / Peace $s as well as the Limited Edition silver proof set I sent in - in the still-sealed box from the mint. I didnt NEED the LE coin designation, but since I had it, I may as well keep it sealed and go for it. The 2018-S is from an LE set, but I bought it aftermarket (for the 18-S) and it was opened already. Decided to submit the ASE from the set anyway.

A mix of 69s and 70s. I think I fared well with some of the Morgans - considering the stories I heard, and the Peace $s came back 69.

@stawick .... Looks as if you did quite well. Fourteen 70's and eleven DCAM's. Cheers, RickO

Only thing that possibly saved that submission was the 1 D morgan coming back 70, to help offset the grading bill. Gotta prescreen a submission like this because way too many coins came back in 69, which are tough sells / losses in most instances. Be careful going forward.

heh - you assume there is a method or reason to my madness.
I've been on a kick to get all my new stuff graded (certified) ... but its not for me, its to help the "next generation" with whatever they want to do with it. (some day ... )

I don't understand why slab moderns, especially all the 69's as there is no "real" premium for them. But if you are happy, I'm happy for you.

Like they said, to help the next generation. I can imagine someone wife/children putting those old one dollar coins for sale...for a dollar in their yard sale. Something with a cert number should give them pause long enough to look at what exactly that means and hopefully get more value. I am in the same boat and is why I grade moderns.

Yeah, it aint just about ME.
They'll (nieces, in my case) get an idea what they might be worth (and some ARE worth it), and not get taken on the interwebs. They aint exactly collectors either.
And some ppl are crazy (like me) and want 69s when they want the coin (to fill a set) but dont want to pay 70 money $$$$.

    Here's a clue into my "world" ...
I got a W quarter in change from BK a coupla years back. Spent every CENT it may have been worth and got it graded. Just because I found it in the wild. No other reason. (Well, I sent it in with a bunch of other Modern Value coins - to save shipping.)

My 2 cents, and the advice is worth what it cost you. If you are planning on leaving a collection to a future generation, slabbing or not has no real value. I've gone over my collection with my family and told them what has value and what is just worth the silver price. I also have a book for paper money and a book for coins. All the high value items are marked and any notes on what I have. Just slabbing means some one can sell it a garage sale as easily as raw. But in the end we are dead, so does it really matter?
