I have a good customer who wanted me to hold a few coins for him because he was taking a road trip to Alaska. I teased him and told him to find me a nice Gold Nugget.

I received below in the mail today with a note about his trip. 6900 miles in 5 weeks! The average price of gas up there was $7.50 Canadian per gallon and as much as $9.28. A gallon of milk 🥛 was $12.00! 😮

The note also said this was the best he could do this time. I am simply floored.

    That’s pretty cool.

I was planning on driving 9500 miles to Alaska and back in the Spring of 2020. Covid hit and I have not been there yet. Might pick up some gold if I get there.

At those gas prices, you should get a nugget with each fill up.

Very nice. I’ve had some dealers send me incredibly thoughtful gifts at times too. Turns out there are nice people all over the place. :)

Very cool- we had an Alaska cruise planned in July 2020, and I had an excursion booked to visit a gold mine to check out the operation and pan for gold- cancelled due to Covid but one day….

    That's nothing - I gave my favorite dealer a 1933 $20! :D

I went to college in Fairbanks, AK and loved every bit of Alaska. Make sure when you go to visit some of the smaller towns. The “big” cities are great and all, but I know I got more enjoyment out of Talkeetna than Anchorage. The summer is nice because the temperatures are warmer, but during a winter visit you will probably be able to see the northern lights/aurora borealis 3 out of 4 nights if it is cold and clear and dark. The only coin shop I went to was Alaska Rare Coins in Fairbanks. An awesome spot with equal parts coins, bullion, gold nuggets and old books about Alaska and the Yukon. Make sure your vehicle is ready and equipped for the journey and have a good couple maps cuz cell phone reception can be spotty at best when it is hundreds of miles between larger cities. And don’t miss out on appreciating all the scenery.

    Chance favors the prepared mind.
