A coin that can take one Breath away, until one finds it to be fake 1943 Bronze Cent?

While coin roll hunting Lincoln Cents, I found this 1943 Steel Cent that appeared to be the 1943 Bronze Cent. I don't know about you and how you might have felt for the first few seconds. I thought for a second I hit the jackpot, until a magnet sucked up to it. I didn't put the scratch marks on the coin. Who ever had it before must have. That isn't a smart way to check what could have been a very exensive coin. Oh Well it was fun for a second. UGH! The highs and lows of CRH. LOL

Yes, there are plated '43 steel cents out there.... And surely would give an initial thrill when first seen
. But then there is the emotional crash as it jumps to the magnet....
Thanks for the pictures. Cheers, RickO
Paul Harvey did a piece on the rare and valuable copper 1943 cent. Some jokester copper plated a few rolls of steel cents and put them in circulation. It drove the local coin dealers crazy with people bringing them in thinking they won the lottery.

In the early 80s a local toy and hobby shop in the mall here had a small coin display of items for sale which included a large pile of copper plated 1943 cents at .75 each. They must have been a big seller because they still come in occasionally to this day.

Wow your heart must have been racing once you've seen it. Bummer when the magnet burned your dreams. Neat find anyhow. Now tell that story to some friends and leave out the magnet part
