Franklinstein

I never look at coins below AU and 99% of the time I only buy MS coins.

This by far is the lowest graded error coin I have ever bought. GSG.

The eye appeal is off the charts for this coin and my wife made me buy it, honestly. I always ask her opinion on coins the I am borderline on. Show almost always says to buy the coin.

For error coin purchases, I would feel your opinion would suffice. That is a most interesting coin, regardless of grade. Just imagine what it looked like pristine(if possible). XF40

EOC - we differ on our perspective on eye appeal.

I guess everything is relative. Compared to other monsters, he's attractive.

As having a lifelong addiction to lams. that is a beaut. I've got some just as similar, most in other denominations. I always say, that type of "error" is always unique. No 2 ever exact. That's the appeal to me. 1of a kind.

Another remarkable error... You do find unique specimens. Your wife's judgement was correct. Cheers, RickO

I find this odd. I'm not an error guy but I wouldn't have thought grade was a consideration.
    Interesting.

    Spectacularly Ugly.

Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.

When I first started buying error coins, I could not afford the classic error coins in any grade. I like big eye appealing errors so I gravitated toward modern error coinage. Almost all modern error coins are in mint state so that is what I collected. I strived for an average of MS65 on my error coins. I became so use to MS error coins that when I saw a lower priced circulated classic error coin, the surface of the coin just did not do it for me.

For the OP coin, the eye appeal made me buy it.

That is super cool. Not for me, but I'm sure you won't have any trouble finding a buyer for that piece. Do you think if it was submitted today it may get peeling lamination as the grade? Of course, it was straight graded once, so I wouldn't doubt that it would probably still do the same today.
