When I was a little girl my mother used to work at the neighborhood bank which had at least 8 tellers. She knew the president very well and asked him if I could search the coin dispensers because I was a beginning collector. He said absolutely, just replace what you found with another coin. The silver was so easy to find and I found a lot, being it was the mid 70’s. Lots of war nickels too. I had so much fun, I was literally a kid in a candy shop. Very fond memories.

Bet that was very profitable too! 8 tellers in the 70's tells me it was a big bank with a lot flowing through it!
Edit to add.....I've never lived in a big city then or now so maybe 8 tellers wasn't so big a bank?
Wow.. That is a lot of 'something' to do for the weekend. Just the halves would take me a month or more to go through. I have a lot of other things to do... always!! Good luck and let us know what you find. Since I do not have much time to search rolls, I enjoy seeing what others find. Cheers, RickO

8 tellers is a decent sized bank but not a huge bank for a city in the 1970s. No online banking meant that there were a lot more tellers especially on pay days. There wasn't even direct deposit until the mid 70s.
When I was a kid in my medium sized city, I remember going to the local suburban branch with my grandfather. There were always half a dozen tellers and a big atrium. It seems like around 1980 the banks started to shrink. I remember my father being mad when they remodeled to remove teller stations.

Actually it was a very small town, but it was a very large area in the country with no other banks for many miles. If there was any banking business to be done, it was likely with this bank. And to this day this bank is still thriving. The area has grown up considerably, but the only other banks within 10-15 miles are the two new branches of this one.

I think I’ll be ordering some of those next time I go to the bank.

Are the boxes all new coins or are they filled boxes from public receptors by Wells Fargo or such?
