I always enjoy looking at the early Irish coins and banknotes. The 1928 series coins, Lady Lavery banknotes, and Ploughman banknotes are all just so well designed.

    All glory is fleeting.

Those Easter Uprising 10S can come with terrific color, though they are rarely as attractive as the one posted by @TPRC. I have one of these, as well-

    I remember that one! :D

Had a few Irish shillings post grades and truviews a few days ago. I've been trying to build a set from raw coins, but is getting harder and harder to find the early dates. Still need a couple of the early dates to finish off the set.

    Ain't she pretty? S-6599 G-06

Beautiful piece. Those are really tough and you've got a nice group.

And another.....S-6591B PCGS PR-30. It says on the label that it is the S-6591A, but the description is consistent with S-6591B in the recent version of Spink's book on Irish coinage as it is overstruck on the 5 sols. I believe the earlier version of Spink had it listed as S-6591A.

This one is really cool. Wonder what were the circumstances around it to be struck over a 5 sols.

Britain James I (1603-1625) shilling minted for Ireland
    Silver, 26 mm, 4.46 gm
    Struck 1606-1607, Tower Mint, London

    Obverse:
    James I facing right
IACOBVS D G MAG BRIT FRA ET HIB REX
(James by the Grace of God, Great Britain, France, and Ireland King)

    Reverse:
    Crowned harp
    HENRICVS ROSA REGNA IACOBVS

    Rose mint mark

The reverse motto means that Henry VII united the Roses (the Houses of York and Lancaster) and James united the Kingdoms (England and Scotland)

    :)

Here is mine, or at least as close as I can get to it. S-6515, as I think yours is also.
