Reed Mark & Damage

So I was wondering if anyone had encountered a case where a reed mark caused a coin to be details graded (or damaged).

I can recall seeing what were some rather heavy reed marks but never details graded. Some really deep 2 prong / points. Some 4 prong / points. Strange how sometimes can have a deep 2 prong / point with no 3rd showing but a lighter one with 4 prong / point. Also have seen them basically centered on an obv or rev device (once right on top of the eagles breast).

I wonder if on the reed mark that it might get a little 'relief' from the damage scene due to what it is?

Anyone have a damaged coin due to a reed mark? Or a heavy reed mark example?

PS - I recognize someone can go out to their coin lab (garage, workshop, tool shed...) and position and hold the coins appropriately and intentionally drive the reeds of one excessively into the other to damage it but then...???

Reed marks get a pass[from causing a details grade], especially on dollar coins which were stored and moved around in bags. Hence why they are also called bag marks, and if a coin has many of them it is sometimes called "baggy".
I have an 85-CC Morgan that is graded 65 with a whopper of a reed hit on the neck.

I had a Morgan with a big reed mark on the reverse and right on the eagles breast. It was deep (almost a shocker when flipped over). I think it was a 94S and in a 64 holder. The rest of the coin was really nice. I bought it but can't find an old picture (don't have it any more). Will look again.

I had the same opinion on 'getting a pass'.

Found it. This is/was the reed mark (don't own anymore).

That one is at least fairly hidden in the feathers. I wouldn't mind it too much.
