Question on placement of error coin in label

jdimmickjdimmick Posts: 9,723 ✭✭✭✭✭

I recently submitted one of the 2021 Die break on front error cents to get graded. Did not request any special holdering of the coin, but I noticed they put the reverse face up, and the obv with the break on back side of holder. Not sure why they did that, Customer who has one asked me whay they do that, becuase NGC did exactly the same thing, is it customary to flip the coins in the holder with reverse up. I could see possibly if the error was on the front side. ?

It is the normal procedure to put the reverse side up for Shield cents.

    This.

I agree with you that the "error" should always be on the front of the slab.

You can make a note on the submission form, and then call customer service to see if they saw you note before slabbing.

Typical for an authentic error, displayed for obvious review. Cheers, RickO
