This one just looks wrong,
is it an altered 44-D, if so the gap in the date looks narrow, and the mint mark isn't as centered of the gap in the altered ones I've seen. But, then again I don't have images of all the known mint mark locations either?
The font style of the mint mark looks more open like that of a 44-D?
The second 1 in the date looks to long, (image details maybe?).
Is the mages quality just messing with the details?

It's a 44-D. Looks like the 1 was "shoved" a little to the left to center it. Given your expertise on the 09SVDBs I think you knew that.

not to come off as rude but there have been countless image comps made up for the key dates to help people. if you have a pc or tablet, download them and use them (not that there is anything wrong with seeking opinions here) but it can help you much quicker and is recommended to protect yourself and others.

on that note, this coin is not even close to a true 14-d. so anything you find that looks like this, spend it. i wouldn't even want something like that in a bag of wheats i'd buy in bulk. hope it helps.

When I post these coins and from PAST experiences (problems with certain forum members) I've found that its important to approach some of these very carefully. I saw this one yesterday and looked it over, then I decided to look it over again today, and because of a couple little aspects of it I went the route of forum confirmations as a group first before I posted the link to it.

i forgot to mention just how invaluable it is to d/l some of the images from CF and keep them in a folder on our desktops. that way you can zoom in and out and scroll around the obv/rev which you can do as easily online.

you did the right thing. ALWAYS seek an opinion before risking buying a counterfeit/altered coin in or out of a holder.

Just to clear things up a bit.
I don't post these Lincoln Cent threads due to a consideration of buying them.
I post them or get confirmation of them being either counterfeit or altered coins and then work as a group to get the listings taken down or removed.
I started off just doing 09SVDB's and started adding some 14-D's when I find them.

YES!

pretty much rule #1 is saying to one's self, "self, something looks off!"

may not always be right but we'll be better for increasing our knowledge and listening to our experience/gut!

Edited to add, thank goodness the idiots making these don't start making the one's match and place a ding or scratch to cover the work. Thankfully, I have not seen one yet.

eBay doesn’t care MarkW. I am constantly filing reports on eBay for counterfeits and altered coins. 99% of the time they do nothing. But I was surprised last week when they removed 2 counterfeit 55 doubled dies that I reported. I guess it all depends on who is on the clock when the report is filed🤷🏻‍♂️

55 DDO's we work (our group) work on a one just the other day, its possible it was one of the same ones you were working on.
I'm glad you dropped in on this thread.
Here we have a group of an unknown number where some work in the foreground contacting sellers and or reporting item, then there is a background # of people that I like to call "The Powers That Be" these folks few my threads, don't always comment, but some have more direct connections that most.
So, My normal threads are for phony 09SVDB, like you one or two reports and ebay seems to just brush them off, but as a group (I this group) back to back reports, calls and contacts from the powers that be and we had near 100% success and the few that didn't get pulled were ones that were like a 2 day buy it now deals.
Now, I also use what I call an extra leverage area that I can expose the listings to that causes more reporting.
So, if it takes a 100 reports, it is what it is.
This group has ways.
I try to police the newly listed 09SVDB's, 14-D's and 55 DDO.
Please feel free to watch for my threads and join in. We'll hammer them until they can't ignore us.

MarkW63, I catch a lot of Morgans, mainly ‘93-CC, ‘03-S and ‘04-S. These 3 have been generating a lot of interest as of late and the prices reflect it. Counterfeit ‘55 DDOs are very common, what doesn’t happen often is finding them in counterfeit holders. I’ve found 3 of those within the past year, all in fake PCGS holders. I’ll be snooping around tonight to see what I can find. Guaranteed I will find something and I’ll let you know what they are then. I’ll paste links too👍👍👍
