Toned Peace Dollar - worth slabbing?

I love the reverse, the luster is booming though it was hard to capture. The obverse some may like better, but I wished it was a little more subtle like the reverse.
It’s a more common date, but wondering if the color may add enough premium to make it worthwhile submitting?
@ricko doesn’t get a vote lol!

I’m thinking the marks on Liberty’s cheek will limit the grade to 63. The color might give it a premium since attractive toning is rare on Peace dollars, but just a little premium and probably not moon money

@Walkerguy21D .... Strangely enough, I do like your pictures of the reverse. Marks on the cheek, chin, neck and above the 2, some in the reverse rays.... will limit it to 63. You know I am not a fan of tarnish, but I can see the attraction to the reverse. Cheers, RickO
I see a solitary mark or two but the rest is quite clean. I'd call it a 3 or maybe a 4 on a good day. Toning is subtle but better than the norm. I generally like the coin and slabbing it wouldn't necessarily be a bad idea.

I don't think I would slab it, but I also think that I will be in the minority on that point here.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
Slabbed or not, she’s a beauty.
Smitten with DBLCs.
I’d love to be wrong, but the color looks suspect to me.

Interesting - I almost posted it with a title - "Some Tarnish Even Ricko might Like"....and then only post the reverse photos....
I like it! It’s really nice and I would be proud to own it.
Now as to should you slab it? That’s up to you, some people get validation from slabs. Other get it from coins. If looking to sell maybe a slab makes it worthwhile, if keeping it long term, what does having it in a slab do for you that you want to slab it?

I'd agree...up near "Liberty" doesn't look right. However, I like the reverse a lot.

I like it. May or may not grade. But if your going to sell it for
Max money it needs to be in a PCGS slab
Martin
That’s precisely what I was thinking, and why I asked - thanks!
It would strictly be for looking to sell. I have many nice raw coins in albums that I’ve owned for decades as it is. The only things I need in slabs are my walkers and large cents.
If anyone's interested, a consignor sent in to Scotsman a complete set in a Whitman album, every coin toned (although of course, some are much prettier than others). I don't want to create a direct link (spam) but you can go to Scotsman's website and search for it's images.

I think you have your answer then. It'd do well with and UNC grade at auction. Ebay is probably your best bet with a tru-view.
I have a nice subtle toner that is similar in my dansco type set, if you were to keep it, it'd be a great album coin.

Though I am somewhat suspicious of the toning... may be worth a shot to submit and hope to get a graded slab.
An attractive example, but not the typical toning that PCGS straight grades on Peace Dollars. If PCGS straight grades at MS64 or better, I would be interested to buy for my toner 7070 registry set.
you have a 50/50 chance of it slabbing or not slabbing

Don't think it would grade.
"It's like God, Family, Country, except Sticker, Plastic, Coin."
I wish I shared your optimism.

It think your chances of a grade are slim, the pinks and blues on the Obv are not typically a pattern embraced by the TPGs currently
11.5$ Southern Dollars, The little “Big Easy” set
The coin has a lot going for it, but agree that the toning isn’t natural looking. Without that,, I’d see it as an MS64.
Thanks all.
I had a nice exchange with Mark. It was a white coin some years ago, I probably paid $20 for it, and it sat in a drawer with a bunch of old CoinWorld newspapers and other junk. So while it wasn’t directly treated with heat or chemicals, I agree the toning still has a suspicion appearance on the obverse. This is why I posted it, and it seems most are in agreement that while it looks nice, it probably won’t straight grade.
My initial thought is that while the reverse is pretty, the splotchy top of the obverse looks a bit too much in the side of questionable. With that said, if you’re going to sell, the coin will be worth more in plastic, but not if the plastic says AT. Is the gamble worth the cost of submission? I’m not so sure…
@airplanenut so just for fun if that coins comes back in a 64 holder what would your auction estimate be?
Also if it came back in a holder that said questionable
Color as opposed a holder that says AT? I ask you this because I know you know your stuff.

Assuming a plain 64 is worth around $75 (I’m not looking it up, but I think that’s about right) I wouldn’t be surprised to see this coin go for $200-something if graded. To be clear, I wouldn’t pay that much for it (even if graded, I’d still question it, and while nice, it doesn’t really excite me personally), but a lot of toned peace dollars have surprised me of late. In an AT holder? No clue. It could scare away buyers, or someone unscrupulous could bid higher with a plan for turning it into something better. I’d guess in the $50-100 range.
I don’t see strong possibility above 63 or 62 money (marks on cheek) but toners can bring strong money. Other posters have indicated it may not straight grade.
If needed fill slot on slab bus (from photo) would play that hand put it on. Call me curious. But would be prepared for expense write off if did not straight grade.
The color throughout LIBERTY is a little suspect , too blotchy, jmo
