I think it's safe to say these two are at the extreme ends of what I collect!!

I finally received "full membership" and can post images, PM and have access to all site features. Yahoo!! I thought I'd post images of the last two medals I've purchased if for no other reason than to show the disparity in size. To be honest, although I knew how large and small they both were, it can be hard to actually imagine the true size when images online all seem the same.
The first is a SC$, HK-643, which commemorates the ending of the Spanish-American War in 1898. At 14mm and the size of a Gold Dollar it really gets swallowed up in the standard NGC holder. All medals I have seen have the die crack which almost bisects the medal, running from the rim to the dove's head and then from the right wing(viewers left) back out to the rim. I can only assume that the die was improperly annealed and cracked with the first strike, leaving some medals with much more evidence of the flaw.
The second medal is from 1892-3 World's Columbian Exposition, noted as Eglit 102 and struck in bronze. The medal, as noted on the holder, is commonly referred to as the "Rome Medal" and the reverse has a religious tone: it shows Miss Liberty holding an olive branch(Peace) and pointing to the sky where a Cross is seen above the Exhibition grounds, radiating that Peace down upon everyone. The relief on this medal is staggeringly high, holding it in-hand one might expect Miss Liberty to walk right off the surface!!
It is quite large and heavy, 91mm in diameter. It came from Stack's still in the custom holder which I recognize as almost certainly originally coming from Tom Hoffman, tmot99, a member here who was instrumental in the 2nd edition of S0-Called Dollars and had/has a large collection of medals by Eglit number. I had bought a few holders almost identical to this from him quite a number of years ago, I believe he had a friend who made them.
Here are the two medals for the very stark size comparison, though the sizing isn't accurate..

Very nice... I really like the large one.... I have a bias to large metal discs... i.e. ASE's, AGE's, Morgans, Peace, WLH's....
Cheers, RickO

I'll say this, when we get older it sure helps to see all the detail!! Lucky for me that the "Peace Jubilee" has a plain design, it's too small for my eyes like a 3-cent silver.
That High relief is stunning.
