Is this a cud or a lamination on this Buff? Or maybe something else? Opinions are appreciated. Sorry the pic is small! Edited to add the date area is what I am asking about.

All the above! Great looking and interesting piece I have never seen one like that on a 1918 some 15's and 17's I've seen in the same area.
