I am here to learn - not to pretend I’m an expert

Just want to set the record straight!
I’ve been trolled on this site before over a silly misunderstanding- but I’m here to say I have benefited from the expertise on this site - so I want to rebuild my relationships and let you know that I’m here to learn more about coins - I love silver dollars and this has been a passion of mine for a long time, but I was never an expert. My father got me hooked on the “coin bug” and since his passing I have become even more involved.
I love all of you - but please, let’s show some respect. Comments like “if you knew how to grade you wouldn’t have sent that in” - are just not helpful!! Good grief. Give a brother a break!!

When, as you did previously, you title a thread “Once again - smacked by PCGS” it implies that you know how to grade and that (on more than one occasion) you didn’t receive the grade you deserved. That might have led to harsher feedback than you would have otherwise received.
If you’re here to learn, instead of complaining about your grades, try asking for feedback and opinions. Many posters are willing and able to help. And remember to have fun.

Even experts can learn something new from time to time. Tuition as it's called can be good if you learn from it. I've sent coins in knowing I probably wouldn't have the outcome I hoped for but wishful thinking took over common sense.
You seem to be getting into coins now when the prices are high so as long as you're ok with that and enjoying the experience then keep on rolling with it.
I appreciate the shared knowledge, feedback and advice from others on here as well as seeing some great coins. I know some on here are very experienced and then some are just starting out. I've been on the receiving end of some criticism in the short time I've been on here. This a great hobby and I'm sure we've all made a nice acquisition at some point and had a learning experience too. I know I have along the way.

Humbling thread.
Yes, you're right about the learning should
never stop. I too, keep learning something new here each day. Although, I been here awhile and been collecting for quite some time.
However, we must always remember. While being here, we must take the good with the bad. Sure the majority are trying to explain the answers clearly. Some here, are only teaching us the cold hard facts. In their own harsh ways. We mustn't take it personal.
This is why I greet some newbys by a short post.
"Welcome to School".
You'll not only be taught about coins but also in manners, business and ethics!
While on this magnificent forum. We must realize that we'll be sent to school with many subjects. Not only in coins!
So glad your father got you started. This is what Father's should do. Teach!
Our Fathers are examples of tutoring us kids, about EVERYTHING!
Including, to stay humble while listening and learning. If we allow this, it'll bring knowledge.
We all know that, "Knowledge is King!"
Thank you, Dad.

ROCK!
Thanks for reading my rant.

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line. One must remember, social media (forums and other interface groups) are two dimensional. That is, they lack the personal, face to face interaction of normal human discourse. That removes a huge portion of human communication - personal dignity, facial expressions, respect and manners. Because of this, information/replies may not have the intended effect of the poster or meet the needs of the recipient. Many are new to this type of communication or have not learned the niceties necessary in this form of social communications. Cheers, RickO
A common theme at this site is to ask for help, cheerfully respond to things which are positive and to bristle when something negative is said. As in life, if you can't accept the bad then you probably don't deserve the good. Grow some thicker skin and settle in for a good time.
Try not to let rudeness and bad manners impact your learning experience. I have been here a while and see inappropriate replies often, unfortunately it is just a part of the community. When I get fed up I just take a break for a few months to a year and lurk.
Best wishes,
Rocco

Mfeld this is spot on - my attempts at humor or sarcasm (or just trying to be silly) can be misinterpreted as a complaint or know-it-all and as Rick-o points out you cannot easily interpret posts on social media. I was wrong to make that post title and not expect folks to come at me a little bit.
@MFeld you have always been a stable and reasonable force on this site and I’ve learned a lot from you not just about coins but also how to best approach the experts with questions and inquiries. You’ve helped me a lot, including a time when I become very upset so thank you so much! You’re an asset to this message board.
Your responses to the BST incident seemed to leave a bad taste with some members. Right or wrong, it's going to take some time to rebuild any respect and credibility you lost. Just my thoughts.
Yes I could have and should have handled that better. Because actually my intentions were not nefarious, despite the accusation.
If only I was perfect and didn’t make any mistakes...
Another thing I have noticed from lurking here: while it can take some time to earn trust and good will, it can be lost in an instant which requires quite some time to get back, if ever.
I think you're just here to rile up the natives, personally, but that's just my 2 cents.
"It's like God, Family, Country, except Sticker, Plastic, Coin."
Well shucks fellas, I don’t know what to say about that. Last thing I want to do is rile up the natives, whatever that means... so I’m clearly not being accepted very well here if that’s the case so I suppose I’ll move along. Just posted my 81 cc for folks to look at but that was before I saw this post. I’ve got some nice coins I’d like to sell so I’ll just focus on that, I suppose.
That is one person's opinion. It may, or may not, be reflected by others. If you continue to overreact to each post, you will end up unhappy and leave.
Plenty to learn on the Forum. A treasure of knowledge from many knowledgeable people who are more than happy to share it.
Fair point
Hang around dude 😁 I understand your comments and can appreciate what you’re going through 😢
I idolize/suck up to no one and I only expect the same (ok except maybe Rick0, Keets, Jessup, and a few others but that’s besides the point 😂 and at the same time you’re currently getting advice from some of the very best the industry has to offer. So just suck it up buttercup and enjoy the ride 😉
Unfortunately Keets was banned at the beginning of the year. Have to say it would be great to have him back. They rarely let anyone come back after they are banned though.
Well that really sucks and I was completely unaware - Thought he had been quiet lately.
I'll eventually ban myself if they don't do it first. It's inevitable
Remember, the old saying, "sticks and stones may break my bones but names will NEVER hurt me!"

Me and my wife, was just talking about this the other day. lol.
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!

If you are just like the rest of us who enjoy talking about and presenting and viewing coins, then continue to do what you are doing. You will never satisfy everyone, can't be done. Just be honest with your comments and presentations and the rest will either enjoy the posts or not. It is what it is. Love the coins and learn from the coin folks, that's what the forum is about.

What did you call her?
Just wondering the same thing. JM, do you think she “frying panned him😂🤔 , or “ just threatened? 😎
Just funning with you guys. 😉🙀🦫
🎶 shout shout, let it all out 🎶
She called Joey a coffee-addicted coin roll searching junkie with permanently stained fingers from handling so many coins. He shrugged and went out to his car to make another trip to the bank after a pit stop at Starbucks.
You guys are too funny!

Thanks again -
Most of us here pretend we are experts.
My mom used to tell me that not everyone has to like you. So not everyone likes you, why do you really care? Your not going to have a beer with the average poster, does them liking you really validate your being?
If it does I feel sorry for you. If you pissed off some people guess what it happens.
But if you are a j@ck@$$ and you come on here to cause issues then don’t let the door hit you too hard, because than you are a j@ck@$$ and deserve to not be liked.
I honestly haven’t been here long enough to know which.
