1942 LINCOLN CENT BRASSY/YELLOW
Hello, Sony here. I am looking for input on this penny I found going thru the many pennies in my husband's old box of coins. Not sure if it's just a fake penny. Neighbor weighed it on his gun powder scale and it weighed the same as another regular looking 1942 penny. Size appears to be the same. Of course, I am no expert and relying on many of you on this forum. Thanks so much. Photos are just from my google drive. I hope that won't deter anyone from looking at the photos. I still cannot cut and paste for some reason. Hope the photos are clear enough, just got a new macro lens and learning the process. Sony

It looks to me like it has been polished.

Hi Bob, Interesting, I hadn't thought about that. There is a scratch on the right side of Lincoln's head and the color appears to be inside the scratch, as well. Could the penny be polished that much to change the color so drastically?
It could have also been covered with gold colored plating or foil.

I agree with @robec Your coin looks heavily polished
Bob, Would that have increased the weight, at all? Thanks for responding, both of you. I will see if I can find any polished pennies so I can compare it....I continue to learn....
I meant finding polished pennies online....I don't have any others like that one.

Thank you, CoCollector!!
@Sony .... Welcome aboard..... Nice pictures. I would say your cent has been polished and then lightly plated. Could have been intended for, or actually from, a piece of jewelry such as a bracelet. Cheers, RickO
