Another recent raw coin back from PCGS

This one I was fairly pleased with the grade - although I did hope for a PL designation, it was not to be. Tried to capture few different lightings / photos:

The coin looks so much better in-hand - I’ve not yet mastered coin photos - sometimes they come out good but sometimes just can’t seem to capture it.
The true view will be out soon - will probably just use that going forward.

Nice grade for it.
I have an 1882-CC and could never get the photos to come out good either. My phone takes great photos but just not when it comes to coins.

With some editing perhaps. From my experience, they take nice photos but like to juice the color and contrast and spare the light so that the coin ends up darker than in hand.

For example, the second photo is much closer to the coin's actual toning

How did you get two true views?

Thank you! In hand the PL contrast looks better but I agree it was borderline and not likely - but hey, we can dream!

It's the same photo that's been copied and edited in Windows 10 to look more like the coin in hand.

Very nice coin, looks like an MS63 PL, so at least you got a bump in grade. Decent amount of chatter on obv. and weak rev strike, with haze on both sides.

Ha ha - been there done that as well ...
If you check ‘do not holder’ if the coin is cleaned or otherwise not gradable they will send the raw coin back

Yes my local guy here showed me one of his - same coin but graded 64PL - and when side by side I can see the difference.
